"You know, I don't get it. Since when are you not allowed to ask a Chinese man where a Chinese restaurant is? I mean, aren't we getting a little too sensitive here? If someone asks me, "which direction is Israel," I don't go flying off the handle."
- Jerry Seinfeld
the biggest event, Alexander the Great, my favorite historical story atleast.
Fandabbydozy, that's a tough one.
Mine would be bordering on the Battle of Zama and The Australian Lighthorse charge during World War 1 (The last successful cavalry charge in military warfare)
~Thanks to Paprika for the awesome sig. ~
Favorite? I can't say, it hasn't come yet.
Least favorite? The day the honor died. In 1887 Japan stripped the right to carry swords from the samurai during the Meiji restoration. They started by organizing sword hunts, taking away swords from regular citizens and reforming various other laws, abolishing the han system. Once that was done, they removed the samurai's most valuable weapon from his hands. The thought of living through that makes me cringe.

I am the sword.
I don't really have an interesting event. But my favorite time period would be when Gaius Julius Caesar ruled Rome. Such an interesting time especially when you add in Cleopatra and Marc Antony. Just not the dramatized version thr real version is better. 'Nuff said.

World History is amazing. It's sooo much better than American History. My favorite event would have to be... Oh I can't pick. Perhaps all the acient ruins facinate me.. Egypt, Rome, Japan.. Pretty facinating.

World History vs American History is basically History vs Comedy. That is, AFTER you realize all the horrifically stupid things the USA has done.
Anyways, I'd have to say the Greek and Roman Empire. So many magnificent structures built in those times that still stand today.
Sig by -Ookami-, thank you Ookami!
The Irish invasion of Canada. Nothing quite like it.
This is a Sig. It's horribly out of date.
My favourite event has to be D-Day, especially the paratrooper drops. Even though they were scattered, they tied up most of the German army, since they thought it was several drops instead of one big one.

us history is kind of BS, i mean we admire thomas jefferson and he was a slave owner and rapist, the british at the time of the first war abolished slavery in england and were freeing blacks in america and according to mel gibson the blacks didn't want to go....i belive if you own a slave post moses you go to hell, the early americans had bibles and knew slavery was wrong so they are in hell, george washington, paul revere, all of them.
You need to look at it at a larger historical perspective. The reason that the British abolished slavery relatively early is that they as an empire predated slavery, and as such, had an economy less dependent on it.
The Americans, on the other hand, as a relatively young country, was built around slavery. A large part of their economy depended on it. So abolishing it would be much more costly. And obviously, the people with money were the people with power, and they were also the people with the most to loose. Therefore, the political willpower for abolishing slavery was weak at best.
The British also did their fair share of beating around the bush. First they abolished slave trade, but argued that the current slaves could in no way take care of themselves. But from that, to emancipation, was a long political struggle, that was successful largely through a series of slave revolts making the keeping of slaves in the colonies very expensive and hard to justify (though people like William Wilberforce should also be mentioned).
It's all very similar to the global warming situation today. Our entire economy is based on oil, and changing that will be very costly, so we make up one bogus argument after another as to why we don't need to change.
But I digress. The bottom line is that making major changes to a society without tearing it down and building it up from scratch is difficult, and it's only been successful a handful of times. Talking is easy, but when people are faced with the prospect of losing convenience, they're not so idealistic anymore.
Thus endeth the wall of text.

Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!

When Dinosaurs roamed the earth.
And the Nativity.
....
My favourite would have to be my birth, yup awesome world event.
Tru Fax: Princess Minako wrestled Jesus... and won
My favorite periods in Western civilization would be the Scientific Revolution, The Enlightenment, and then The Renaissance, basically getting to see man make a lot of significant discoveries, and implementing new philosophies into society.
Haven't studied Eastern Civ yet, but it's one of my top priorities.
And really, no history should be considered bogus or less valid than another places history. Maybe less interesting or not as affective over the world as a whole, but it's no less history.
