By the way, depending on who you ask, Taiwan is China, and the People's Republic will retake it someday soon. Keep your eyes open, dear friend, and plan accordingly.

I don't really care about the political status of Taiwan. As far as I'm concerned, since we're not communist, don't speak in a Beijing accent, nor have troops standing everywhere, I'm fine with what I have now.

There's a good chance that this is true. I don't know much about the Chinese culture in particular, but I know that the Japanese women try to be nice with men and do anything to avoid embarrassing the man or breaking his heart. (And yes, ANYTHING, from smiling to going with him to the bed.) But things are becoming different nowadays, as they are becoming more western-like/Americanized/whatever they call it. I won't be surprised if a girl in Tokyo gives a man a slap on the face. (Even though in the rest of Japan, people are still more traditional.)

I think this can be extended to the rest of the east Asian countries, since there are similarities between their cultures.

I have ran into a few who have smiled or grinned at me.

I like Chinese people and culture, so why would I give them a reason to hate me? I don't say or do things that would intentionally offend anyone.

When dating Chinese women, are there any Chinese customs I should be aware of or would I treat a Chinese woman the way I'd treat any other woman on a date? I am curious-I wouldn't want to do something that would offend her.

I asked elsewhere, and this is what one person told me:

Ok, the advice I give you should be just taking as advice not an act of doing. First, all women are different, you my have offered her by doing something, but it doesn't mean that another girl will be offend by the same jester. Secondly, every women like a guy that is confedient in himself, I don't know why they just do (ladies feel free to tell me I'm wrong). And lastly, just be yourself.
