Hi all!
First off, I know we all do it, the one thing we know we shouldn't be doing. Procrastinating. For me, Anime and Games are my source of not doing what I should do :3. Anyway right now I am getting butt-hurt by assignments and exams - any tips to organise myself better?
Also what gets in the way of your work?

All about time management.

During weeks where I'm bogged down with studying for tests or doing assignments, I still play games. I just allot myself a certain time to play games. This is common sense, as I'm sure you know. The key ingredient here is having the discipline to stop playing around when the time comes to buckle down and work.

If I'm feeling especially lazy one day, I just stop and think of the consequences of my procrastination, and that usually gets me off the couch. An internalized mother conscious.

I'm doing it right now I have an English IV class paper to type due Friday. Its only two pages but I'll do it on Friday morning xD

I find that setting a scheldule for yourself to be quite useful.

For example, say you have an essay due in 2 weeks; you're like to procrastinate. Set a time aside each day when you promise yourself that you'll do a little bit of it at a time. The actual time of when you do it is irrelevent, so long as you follow through that you will do X amount each day.

It works for everything, not just school work. Pretty much anything that you put aside purposely.

man i am a god among flies when it comes to procrastinating. back in highschool i had nothing but AP classes which are a joke but they give such annoying assignments. I would spend many class periods writing essays to turn in to the next class XD

now in college, i only attend classes when ABSOLUTELY needed. like a test or something, otherwise i will not show up. most of my homework gets done between 3am and 7am cuz i spend all day hanging out, watching anime, and playing video games

Oh my, I procrastinate like tomorrow is never coming. Thanks to the internet to distract me in a million ways.

Also recently I've become addicted to omgpop. That site is addicting and a reason I don't get stuff done xD

I tend to have people remind me that I have work to do and keep everything written down in my agenda. Works most of the time! :]

XD Eh...I dunno. I am really not that big of a procranistantor. I always finish my hw on the bus and the rest as soon as I get home. Computer hw gets done when the computer is first available, and I never stay up lator than 9 o' clock doing my hw, so I get a good nights sleep. I dunno actually...It's kinda a habit of mine. I'm just really good at time management...and of course I get all that extra time to do whatever I would like..

Everything and anything can get in my way. I will use any excuse to delay my homework time, heck I'm doin it right now. I'm a huge procrastinator, and yeah I know it.

I just magically stopped procrastinating when all my worked piled up.

1. Place alarm clock in far away place, makes you more likely to stay awake in the morning.

2. Walk/Move around. Helps keep the body awake.

3. Avoid tedious tasks that get in the way. You might notice your room is dirty out the corner of your eye and think, 'Oh I gotta clean that.' Dont, that's procrastination in itself.

4. Write stuff down. Help memory, and also helps you if you need to remember important things you need to remember or stuff you want to say. I typically write things down on my hands, you might find better luck in sticky notes.


Things that get in my way are always the hotlinks to my video games and of course the Internet. Full of all its magic and wonder...

I procrastinate because of the time and how difficult the work is.

But I stop doing it also if my work is piled up.

Well whenever I have a lot of studying or assignments to do, I usually go to the library and stay there. If I'm at home I get distracted easily. So I usually go there to do stuff since its pretty quiet and there's nothing to distract me there. I actually finish my work pretty fast, probably because I want to get out of there ASAP.

Maybe you can do that to get yourself working?

As for the thing that distract me, there are a lot. Last time I got distracted with a toothpick, a screw, and a button.

Actually I like Serated's comments. If only I add, get an egg timer. If it hits an hour that your online that is your time to get off.

What Serated says is true. If you want to be able to manage your day, you gotta learn how to be a morning person. It's a bit hard in the beginning, but once you get the habit, you'll find out that you have more time to do everything you want, be it an important thing or just your hobbies.

 

But I'm not a morning person... yet... we'll I'm trying :P

LOL but it's working anyway. Tomorrow I woke up at 6 AM. Two weeks ago, 6 AM was the time I go to sleep. Just imagine o_O;
