I kinda like Japanese cartoons =_=
...because they're not American? I don't think Japan really has anything like Looney Toons.
I guess he means why are anime girls dressed with "overstylized" clothing, ribbons and other stuff?
They Japanese are different from western people in many things. For example, they excessively like "cute" stuff, and they seem to me more "fiery" than western people. You can notice that in all sorts of Japanese art, including their anime and music. Just see how their "visual kei" rock bands style their hair and dressing. Imo it's more weird than anime. I mean those are REAL people and they look like anime o_O
But honestly, I love it! ^_^ (but of course that doesn't mean that I want to style my hair or dress up like that... *pukes*)
EDIT: What? Your filter seems to be removed. Congratulations on that.
EDIT++: What? Seems it's back again. O_O Was it an error or something?

because animes are way better than american cartoons, come on its not that many good cartoons at all, animes have the best character designs, best plots and everything about them is better than american cartoons
"Dark light come shine in her lost heart tonight
And blind all fears that haunt her with your smile
Dark light"-HIM
i personally hate looney toons and those things, i prefer anime

What's "normal" to you, might not be "normal" to them and vice versa.
why should they make western style shows? there are tons of shows already being made in...y'know...the west. That said i like the greater diversity of styles you see in western cartoons (foster's home for imaginary friends, chowder, etc), but the ones with lots of eastern influence in the art usually suck.
I'm sure japan has plenty of cartoons comparable to the kind of stuff you see on cartoon network, they probably just dont reach us here because they are more kid oriented and get lost in the sea of anime and such.
Thanks to Wolley for the sexay siggeh! Good work, Wollz!

Why should they? Who are you to judge normality?
That is normal to them. Plus, they're different than American cartoons because they have their own style.

its normal to them and its their culture, an average ignorant japanese citizen is prbly saying "why are their drawings so bland?"
its only a matter of perspective
and the narrow-minded Walt Disney didnt make a set art style in japan, theyre prbly thinking that stuff like Looney-Toons and Tom & Jerry is pretty messed up, realize that its pretty off-the-wall from contemporary art, compared to stuff like that theyre art is pretty tame...
... plus the art looks cool xD

Considering that 60% of ALL animation IN THE WORLD comes from/occurs in Japan, I believe that they are free to do whatever they want with their cartoons.
Japan is a homogeneous country. Virtually everyone there is ethnically Japanese. Because of this, the people do not like others to think that they are all the same and some will try to stand out in some way: having a different blood type, wearing their uniform a certain way, changing the color of their hair or skin, etc. In Japan, I raised a few eyebrows simply because of my skin color (and because I could speak Japanese like a normal person).
This is often reflected in anime/manga with characters having spiky hair, different skin colors, different hair colors, different clothes, different races, ANYTHING that is out of the ordinary. Plus, it is more interesting.
Plus, I believe that you asking this question for an entirely different reason than you seem to claim. Something most likely related to the reason why you do not watch Adult Swim anymore. But I won't go there.
Maybe, but Mavericker's filter does not apply to quoted messages. If his message appears in a quote, then the filter won't be there and will look like any other message.

...cause they're Japanese and they like it?Plus alot of Western cartoons get dubbed and released over there anyway so why should they that's like asking why don't Westerns make anime?
What?I enjoy some shojo series/characters...
They're Japanese! They think eels and seaweed are food, for goodness sake, and you take issue with their cartoon characters sporting too many adornments and accessories?
Dear Lord...
Mavericker, of all the things foreign to take amusingly peculiar issue with, why this?
And while we're at it, American cartoons are really western cartoons, and they're stylized, too. Watch the characters' faces, limbs, and buildings contort madly and witness inanimate objects talk sometime. Hell, Disney made flowers and vehicles talk, smile and plot a coup d'etat. There was even a murdering rabbit!
The reason? Americans, foolish creatures, think hot-dogs and SPAM are food.
Dear Lord...
Frankly, the style shouldn't matter. Cartoons should stand on their content, like anything else.
