The Ultimate Gundam pilot Battle....!

Ok guys, I've thought about doing this for a while. It's basically going to be a 50-pilot tournament. Everyone can nominate at most, two pilots in mobile suits(or mobile armors) that they actually piloted. My Gundam knowledge is a bit limited so please include the series the character appeared in too. I'll compile the list and then draw from a hat to see who'll face who. We'll then vote "live" or "die" to see who wins each match-up. The first pilot to amass 10 "live" votes, moves on.

I'll start the nominations:

So are you saying I should bar pilots from Gundam G? Give me some ideas.

I understand canon-wise, many of the match-ups would be a wash in favor of G's pilots but the votes are what matter. Still, I'm open to ideas to make the tournament better.

If you mean by votes as in popularity then its not afight but more a popularity tournament, from what you are saying (battle, live/die) it sounds more like a who would win thing.

Well lets say I nominate Mineva Zabi in gigantes, which is basically Ideon given god powers, it can delete the universe and recreate it.

Turn A and Turn X are also so strong that all the other (canon) gundams are basically fighting only for whatever place there is behind them. Even if Loran were a complete moron (which he isn't) he could win against anyone using it, and when moonlight butterfly is active it just decomposes all existent technology and knocks mankind back to the stoneage within hours.

In G Gundam, Bunshin Sappu god Shadow is... well you know Kagebunshin no Jutsu from Naruto? Its basically that, but ALL of them are real and have full power, just a bit short lived.

And lets not get started with Norma Legion, Psycho Haro, Phoenix Gundam, etc.

What I'm saying is there is a God teir (Gigantes), an uber teir (Turn A, Psycho Haro, Phoenix Gundam, Devil Gundam), a super teir (Most G Gundam protagonists, most SD Gundams) and THEN comes the stuff you'd usually imagine putting up a fight.

There is also a low teir (Agahana in Acguy, Jean in Zaku II, Paolo in a Shuttle) and probably one made of "joke characters" (Katz with a Homo Avis, Frau Bow's Electric Car, Leos from SD Gundam, The Cardboard Turn A fake, Bernie's Santa Clause balloon).

Given the fact that there is just humongous power differences among certain units the idea of making absolutely everyone fight in a tournament will just have the broken units dominate it, I'd actually recommend to shut out all Main characters, all Gundams, Rivals and Main Villains, because fodder fighting fodder just works out fairer; NT-1 Alex isn't going to even dent Wingzero and can forget about Turn A (that probably heals back damage faster than her little gun can dish out), but Mikhaiel Kaminsky vs Shiho Hahnenfuss or Kate Bush (Shrike Team, not George W.'s daughter) vs Hilde Schbeiker becomes way more balanced. It also takes out broken Newtype skills (Camille turns your unit off, Yurii TAKES CONTROL OVER your unit, duels just won't work) and most broken units (almost always gundams or rival units) by default. But I don't know if you want to exclude it all like that and some Gundams are balanced (Ground types for instance), though its hard to determine where the exact border is.

Alright. Here are some new rules that should make this more interesting.

* All characters and suits from Turn A and G Gundam are off limits.

*All MAIN PROTAGONISTS, ANTAGONISTS AND RIVALS AND from the remaining series are off limits too. Essentially, characters like Amuro, Char, Heero(and the rest of the Gundam pilots), Zechs Kira, Setsuna, Graham, Kou Uraki, Gato, Shiro Amada, Christina McKenzie etc.

I've realized having everyone's favorite protagonist or antagonist duking it would be fun but a bit lame. And even though there won't actually be any battles, I want people to give some thought as to who would actually win. Plus, why not give some of the minor characters some love too?

So we'll try this a second time. Here are my nominees:

I picked Yzak because I saw how he pwnd Forbidden and Raider when he is pushed to his limits.
I STRONGLY suggest that you watch SEED J Gundam. They have noteworthy pilots too.

shutting all units from turn a is a bit unecessary because the other stuff in it (Borjarnons are basically Zakus dug out) isn't broken, only Turn A and Turn X are, but G Gen originals are a far more important to shut out (basic Legion troops are stronger than Kira in SEED mode, not to mention their moonlight butterfly capable units with tri-buster rifles. They are basically the god mode army).

I'm also not sure wether not excluding gundams and their pilots works (if Yzak is allowed, it gives us stellar in destroy)

@Heero put in series from which they are. And Johnny Ridden is a main character having his own manga.

Brenev Auggs aka the "One Shot Killer" has the highest kill count of the OYW of either sides (193 MS 8 Ships). Despite his fearsome name, he's actually a very modest man who tries not to waste ammunition (get it?) and while other pilots exaggerate their achievements, Brenev often credits his kills to his wingmen, its probably the only reason why he didn't breach the 200 MS mark in official records. Brenev Augs survives the war.


-Rezun Schneider in Geara douga Rezun Schneider Custom (CCA)

Rezun is Neo Zeon's badass squad leader in CCA, she's not a Newtype, yet can get into attack range against the whole Londo Bell fleet often forcing Londo Bell ace and squad leader Kayra Su to launch and stave her off before she sinks the ships, they also often get pit against eachother from the fact that both are tactical squad leaders meeting up whenever the Jegans have to fight the Geara Dougas. Though she is skilled and badass, she dies against the Ra Cairum's turrets (you don't mess with Bright's ship).

Alright, characters and suits from Turn A aren't banned but the suits Turn A and Turn X are. So is everything from SD Gundam G Generations.

Is Yzak's MS too powerful? I'm going to allow Yzak for now unless you can give me a reason not to.

As for Stella, I just read about her and Destroy seems broken so if anyone wants to nominate her, have her pilot Gaia instead.

I'm not a Gundam noob but I'm definitely not as knowledgeable as some of you guys. If a main character or MS that is too powerful is nominated, please say something.

I didn't say he should be taken out, but Stellar has approximately a similiar story importance and destroy would be a unit she piloted, so yeah take out destroy. I'm also not sure how "main" you have to be to count as main character, like Duo in Deathscythe or Witz in Airmaster.

The "main-ness" of a character is debatable and that's why I'll need everyone's help. You can host this with me if you want to. As for Duo, he's definitely a main character. The five main pilots, Zechs and Treize are off limits. That still leaves a lot of GW pilots to choose from though.

Arguably Yzak was part of the main gundamjack team along with Athrun (getting the "old" gundam line of Aegis, Duel, Buster, Blitz and Strike together, save for Strike) and faced Kira over and over in SEED (if there's such a thing as main rival squad, he's part of it).

And while quoting you I noticed you don't use sigs, its in the user CP so you don't have to type the Heero quote every time you post. :P

Missed that. As for the four, Nicol died, Athrun and Dearka defected, and Yzak became left for ZAFT, making him less significant than the other two. Not that he's not at all important, but with the role he played compared to Athrun and Dearka, he's not as important. Noteworthy of him for me is how he dispatched Shani and Clotho towards the end of the war.

Another suggestion: When this begins, I recommend putting a picture of the MS, Pilot, and a little biography on how the pilot owns. Many people(Mostly Gundam noobs who says, "What the hell is a Vigna Gina? Some kind of perineal care?" or, "Varlder? Sounds like a brandy wine...") wouldn't have an idea what we are talking about. It doesn't need to be done as you post pilot and MS. Only during the duels so people who vote will have an idea of each pilot/MS and what they are capable of. It's just a suggestion. We are still faraway from this.

By the way, is it really Valder who pilots Hydra Gundam? I hadn't read the manga. I only heard he got owned by a White Fang veteran during the last war while still shocked to hear His Excellency's death. I think the dude who killed him is Adin Barnett or something... My apologies my knowledge of the mangas are limited. If anyone can clarify, please do so and thanks in advance. Are those two off-limits? If not, I might change Barry Ho into one of them.

I was already planning on posting a picture of the pilot and his/her MS during the duels. As for the biography, I'll write a few bullets about them.

I haven't read the G-Unit either but I checked aboutgundamwing.com and yes, Valder Farkill did pilot Hydra Gundam. Farkill was killed by Odin, the main character of the manga(he's off limits)

Leader of the Shrike Team, a squad consisting purely of females, save for himself. He doesn't look it, but he does not only get all the girls, but also qualifies being the Leader. Yes, many Shrikes kick serious *ss, especially Junko, but though Oliver doesn't show off with a flamboyant personality, he has it in him. He dies halfway through the show sacrificing himself, but not before Marbet (his Ex mind you, starting out rather baffled that *he* of all people leads the all-female Shrikes) gets pregnant from him.


-Abel Bauer in Rasveht (After War Gundam X)

Abel is one of New UNE's potential Newtypes and able to use the flash system, but nonetheless sent as fodder against the protagonists by the Frost Brothers. Abel survives the encounter and proves a notable opponent due to the nature of his unit, but is killed by one of the Frost Brothers later.

Zero Murasame is considered a human weapon, the perfect soldier among perfect soldiers and very, very bad for your health in battle. He is used as bloodhound by the Titans to do the dirty work that would otherwise endanger even their elites and is given prototypes that were never tested just to boost the propaganda. Not only being altered into a fighting machine upon birth, but also baptized by the flames of endless conflicts, he is a very strong Enhanced Human. Other than this bio, Zero is only known for few G Gen event exploits, including trying to prove himself superior to Amuro and failing, having Leila Raymonds as his significant other, finding his humanity and switching sides every time, making other "born as soldier" type people to get inspired by him and switching sides. Though he is not a G Gen stock character, he's also never been given an actual storyline.

Units like the Zeong, Gouf, and other ones tied to an environment would be a hassle. (I can picture how Zeong will do underwater. XD) I will just assume that we are doing it where it's best suitable for the 2 units. XP

Either we make seperate scenarios or we assume they fight in some type of void in which each unit is automatically proficient in. Or we just say who's better in general, if your unit is a pure underwater type thats not good then.

If Char is in the Zeong it would win underwater using Char's Kick, he can somehow perform it with Zeong even if underwater and he'll even find a way to perform Char's Kick when in a Musai underwater XD

I was re-watching 0080 last week and I realized just how good the pilot was. Whoever the pilot was took out more GMs than anyone else and did it with style.

Don't have a picture of him but his name is Shin Matsunaga. It says that he was close friends with Dozle Zabi and a Zaku II ace pilot in th One Year War. He was mentioned by B Gundam in one of the threads about Non-Newtype Ace Pilots, which included, Johnny Ridden, Anavel Gato, Norris Packard, Shin Matsunaga, the list goes on...

The beam machine gun of this Gelgoog, is somewhat bigger than that of the Marasai. Which one is better though? Zeta came after 0080, but it looks like the 0080 rifle looks stronger, only a little bigger.
