    Default Onomatopoeias (sound effects!)

I think this is one of the harder things for learning Japanese- knowing what sounds everything makes! I came across this article:
    www.jpf.go.jp/j/japanese/survey/globe/17/04.pdf

which was very helpful, but does anyone else have some good sites for learning such things?

Thank you! (my font got stuck in italics!)

    http://www.nihongoresources.com/dict...matopoeia.html

It has quite good dictionary of SFX.
You can search with Japanese characters and romaji.

In addition, there's also a book that went out of print a few years ago (but can still be picked up at some used bookstores and Amazon.com) called "Nihongo Pera Pera". It's published by Tuttle Books. It's pretty much all romanized, but it's still helpful and provides example sentences showing you how to use each one.
