Watchmen wasn't a superhero porn movie, since there was all of one sex scene (that was important to the storyline, even) and I don't really consider a naked man pornographic (because if I did, I'd have a heart attack at every art museum in the world).

That aside, Iron Man was good.

Watchman is a superhero porn flick-I'm not interested in hearing about Dr. Manhattan's giant blue gonads.

Since I didn't mention them, that's quite alright. I'm just curious as to what your definition of a "good" superhero flick is.

...probably the part where this is a public forum. O_o

Getting back on topic, I liked "Iron Man" as well, and "The Dark Knight" - even though Batman probably doesn't count as a superpowered superhero. Still, that was a good movie.
    Well, that was educational.

I told Heinekenrana I don't want to talk to her.

You don't need superpowers to be a superhero. Superheroes just do what most normal heroes can't-protect an entire city, and save the world.

Sorry. That's not my intention, I assure you.

Sano: Why Superman Returns? I'm curious as to whether or not you're a Superman fan (sadly, I'm not) or if you just thought it was well done.

A little bit of both, though mostly it was just me scrambling to edit my post.

I did like the movie, though. It wasn't as grand as it could be, but the depiction of Superman was one of the more decent. I am also a pretty big fan of Superman, though. Not every superhero has to have a TRAGIC OMG SO SAD AND ANGSTY backstory or motivation for fighting crime. It's much more interesting to me to see people with power using it for good as best they can.

Far too many times people just go "lol Superman is storng" and don't really focus on his character. He's only as two-dimensional as the writer, unfortunately not many people are good at writing for a character such as him.

The Batman movie from 1966 with Adam West. Here's the promo. It's awesome.

That makes sense. If only I could get over the whole impression I have of Superman as a holier than thou jerk (thanks to my friends who constantly talk about how great and awesome he is), I might give that movie a chance.

I enjoyed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie*They count as Super Heros*(this is still one of my fave films from my childhood), Batman Begins and The Dark Knight(eventhough I hated that Rachel chick),Batman Forever *in my opinion those 3 where the best bat flicks ever*,Spiderman 3(black suit Spidey ftw eventhough I hate Mary Jane in these flims)X3 and Wolverine(what can I say Wolvy's my fave X Man and he had the spot light in these*plus Storm was pretty cute in X3*,Spawn(I'm a Spawn fan and this movie was great),Watchman(I enjoyed it) I also enjoyed the Live Action Devilman film(despite it being Universally despised)

    What?I enjoy some shojo series/characters...

I have to agree with Mavericker. While I did like Watchmen, the scene where they make love seemed more on the side of pornographic rather than tasteful. It could have been more tastefully done.

The recent batman movie with the joker was good. I also liked Iron Man.

Let me re-iterate: I will not tolerate harassing and flamebaiting Mavericker or anyone else. It's against the Misc rules. It's against the sitewide user agreement. So don't do it.

Getting back on topic, I liked "Iron Man" as well, and "The Dark Knight" - even though Batman probably doesn't count as a superpowered superhero. Still, that was a good movie.

Actually, the first 2 of those (with Michal Keaton as Batman/Bruce wayne) are really good. The other 2 are good for laughs, or giving serious Batman fans hideous strokes etc.

I like the first couple of x men movies too - the 1st one suffers from lower budget perhaps, but they were a very good imagining of some of the x-lore as it were. The first couple of Spider man movies are awesome - that bit it the 1st one where hes just realised he has his powers - most humerous.

Just as a sheer honest to goodness action movie though, I like Blade 2. Blade 1 was good, but 2 refined the formula, though I thought 3 took it too far. But blade 2 kicks butt!

OK, so the new batman films are in a whole other league, but sometimes I just like a film where the good guy roundhouse kicks 'death juice' into the baddie after saying 'some motherf***ers are always trying to ice skate up hill'. Classic
On that day, all female personelle under my command will be required to wear... Tiny Miniskirts!!!

First off, Eris ... though I had to highlight it to see your username, I love it, especially the irony in your being the "fist of Internet justice." (personal joke, please forgive me. I'm developing a new story where Eris, the Greek goddess of chaos, is the villain)

As far as superhero film quality goes, I'm looking primarily at how close they come to the donor materials they originate from ... or, in the case of original ones, how well they handle the genre in their own right. With those qualifications in mind, here's my Top Five:

#5: The Incredibles -- well-done original superhero film, cribbing off of what's great about what's come before it.

#4: Batman Begins/The Dark Knight -- I'll group both the Christopher Nolan Bat-films together because they deserve to be. Both stand on their own, but The Dark Knight is probably the closest anyone has gotten to the *true* genesis of the Joker as Bob Kane envisioned him.

#3: Iron Man -- takes what's traditionally been a second-tier hero and makes him a star in his own right, by hewing very close to the root material ... albeit adapting for the times, Tony Stark is still a recovering alcoholic idle millionaire genuis, which in the hands of Robert Downey Jr. makes him compelling.

#2: Spider-Man 2 -- 1 was pretty good in staying true to the original Lee/Ditko story of origin and the Green Goblin, but #2 was perfect because of the pathos given to Dr. Octopus, a tragic villain in his own right, and nothing seemed cartoony at all about him.

#1: (forgive me) Watchmen -- the film is as close to the book as humanly possible, so much so that reading the comic now almost feels like reading the film's script. Sure, people will complain about changes to the climax, or to the ending, but at the same time it was very difficult to adapt, and Zack Snyder did a workmanlike job with it.
