Osaka speaks in Kansai ben. Osaka is called Osaka because she's from Osaka. People in Osaka speak in Kansai ben, which is a bit of a country bumpkin' place in Japan. It only makes sense to make a country girl sound like a country girl.
But her sub voice doesn't sound anything like a country girl kinda thing. It may be the equivalent of a Texan/Southern kind of accent, but it sounds nothing like it, I would have just had her English voice actor end 'eng' and 'ing' words 'en' and 'in''. Like 'sayin'' instead of 'saying'.Osaka speaks in Kansai ben. Osaka is called Osaka because she's from Osaka. People in Osaka speak in Kansai ben, which is a bit of a country bumpkin' place in Japan. For me, it would definatly be the subbed. The dubbed may pronounce names wrong, and the voices are not how you anticipated them to be. Sometimes it may be annoying, other times, it can be very relaxing and not stressing your eyes to read subtitles that dissapear before you can read them....

Come to think of it, everyone's voices weren't all that good. Only Tsukasa.
Konata's was really weird and didn't fit her personality at all. It was practically monotone and exhibited no otaku emotions over games. No enthusiasm!

So I guess you didn't like Miyuki's sub voice either, since the dub version was practically the same thing but in English (even a non-dub fan on ANN admitted this)? Also, I just highlighted Tsukasa, the Japanese liked the dub cast in general (Akira was another of their favorites). Some were also really impressed with the Haruhi dub.
As for you apparently getting mad about me liking dub voices for girls in other shows, well, that's pretty weird, I don't get ticked off at others for having different opinions (I assume that's what you meant, I couldn't figure out any other meaning to the statement).
Really? I thought Miyuki sounded rather different in English.
*goes to Youtube*
Yeah. I restate that. She doesn't really sound like the one in Japanese.
As for the Haruhi dub, I also dislike it. She sounds good in some instances, bad in others. Wendee Lee's too old to be doing this stuff anymore. And I really disliked Kyon's voice. Itsuki was decent though. Nagato was really weird, but she was weird in Japanese anyway haha. And Asahina...bleh.
I'm not mad at YOU when you like dub voices. What I meant was that just thinking of the horrid female dubs on some of the shows makes me mad at the dubbers. Haha, I'm not mad at those who like dubs. I'm mad at the dubs themselves. Your interpretation was really far from what I mean.

That show scares me 0_0 I was having a slow, lazy day, and watched part 1 of episode 1 on youtube, and I swear they talked about methods of eating for for a full 6 minutes xD
Is it really THAT good? What kind of humor is it? Like...compare it to another funny show's type of humor.

Certain anime are aimed towards younger audiences simply because it is more profitable. What some people seem to forget is that anime distributors are BUSINESSES. They want to make money. Now, some of you have readily said that you do not watch dubs, so why would anime distributors aim their dubs towards you? Well, they don't (unless it is something that is obviously for older audiences). They do not make money off of people when they watch fansubs since they are not making money from TV ratings or certain DVDs (this is the exact same reason why Cartoon Network got rid of all their anime).
Younger audiences are more profitable, since they are more inclined to watching anime on television and buying the extra merchandise (Do any of you have a Naruto lunchbox? Or pencil case? Or any of the Nauro toys?).
And again, curse words are added as a form of "Americanization", since the Japanese language does not have any. "Kuso" means "damn", "darn", "dang", "darn it", and "fiddlesticks" as far as the language is concerned.
Can't really complain about this aspect of the dialogue when it never even existed in the first place.
Well, that's because you cannot tell. The Kansai dialect does not sound like a southern accent but is rather the equivalent of one. Unless you are both linguistically and culturally fluent in Japanese, you wouldn't know the difference. In fact, in the Japanese version of Azumanga Daioh, did you even realize that Osaka even HAD an accent until Diocletian pointed it out?
The Kansai dialect is VERY distinct from the Tokyo dialect. I can easily tell them apart because I am fluent in Japanese, but one does not have to study Japanese very long in order to hear it (I would be quite surprised if, after 2 years of formal study, if one was NOT able to tell the difference). The dialect, just like the Texas/Southern accent we have, is harsher, more melodic with a stronger focus on vowels (since the Tokyo dialect focus more on consonants and more silent vowels, the dialects are very easy to hear) and has some differences in vocabulary and grammar ("chau" rather than "chigau", "uchi" rather than "watashi", "honma" instead of "honto", etc).
Characters with a Kansai dialect are often dubbed with either a Brooklyn accent or a Southern one in order to match the harsher sounding Kansai (again, for anyone who knows Japanese to a certain degree, hearing it should be rather obvious). Osaka had a Brooklyn accent in the manga but had a Southern accent in the dub...for obvious reasons (the dubbing took place in Houston, Texas).
This flows into into the argument where people like subs simply because of the language, or rather the linguistics of the language. To be honest, as I have said before, some degree of knowledge of the Japanese language is required for this (otherwise, you do not know WHAT linguistics you are actually paying attention to). Fansubbers do not do a very good job of reflecting certain parts of the languages, such as certain jokes, accents, grammer and using curse words (which, AGAIN, do not exist in the Japanese language).
This is my war face.
This is what happens to trolls who mess with me.

Actually the reason I dislike Yugioh's dub has to do with how the characters personalities where changed(like seriously compare japanese Yusei to the American one)How cards artwork is edited(Dark Magican Girl, the Harpies cards,Injection Fairy Lily, some E heroes etc...despite the fact that according to a survey it's mostly TEENAGERS buying the cards)and How anything even mildly religious is cut so it mostly has to do with my own morality on what is acceptable or not on why I dislike SOME dubs(EVERYTHING by 4kids for 2 out of my 3 reasons) but I agree with you the only reson why I prefer some subs over dubs is because it's unedited if the dub is uncut, complete,a price I find reasonable(I am not paying 70 dollars for 1 season) and still in circulation I'll purchase it,
PS: I DO collect toys/dolls/Merch from my favorite shows!
...as long as I find the price reasonable(I am not paying $100+ for a damn doll! )
What?I enjoy some shojo series/characters...
Either is fine with me, but generally I prefer dubs so I can pay more attention to watching the anime. Or even not pay much attention and still know what they're saying.
However, there are exceptions, obviously. Like terrible dubs...
Well, I will say that what 4Kids does to anime really should be illegal. While I understand the reason why they edit their shows that way, I kinda wish that they would give kids more credit (editing print in their shows? Do they think kids are stupid?). But I guess they are also trying to get the approval of parents who freak out if there is funny looking star, or a cross, or any threatening colors to be seen.
'Cause hey...someone has to buy that crappy $100 Naruto doll.
This is my war face.
This is what happens to trolls who mess with me.
The voices of some dubbed anime just really sucks it sounds like nothing but whiny voices yelling around.
dont mess with ma green
Yeah I know what you mean don't even get me started on the stupidity of the Gundam edits(seriously do they REALLY think that a laser gun is any less lethal than a regular gun/Rifle?!) or One Piece edits(it's a Pirate anime it's gonna have alcohol!)atleast Bandai and Funi release uncut dvds of they're shows something 4KIDS flatout REFUSES TO DO!I mean honestly do they know how many YGO/One Piece fans they have pissed off with that move??!
What?I enjoy some shojo series/characters...
After watching One Piece up to episode 181 sub, and looking back on dub, I will never, I repeat, NEVER have the slightest respect for 4KIDS or anything they stand for.
EVER

I think it mostly depends how did you watched first. Many people get used to the subs because is the way they allways have been watching anime, and when they see it dubed they might think it sounds weird.
As for me, I like to watch anime in both ways but if i am doing any other sort of activity at the same time while watching it (like eating) i would prefer it dubed. I do not have anything against dubs as long as they do not put censorship.
Censorship in America is such a hilarious thing. Shielding kids from the evils of society, only for them to find out reality themselves.

On this day of days, most epic and prideful, you were born 15 whole American years ago!
Through the odds and by doing the impossible, you beat out hundreds of thousands of siblings in the great sperm race for the coveted egg.
Probably via hax.
Regardless! You won!
So remember, whenever someone picks on you or calls you weak or small.
Just remind them that you beat out a few hundred thousand other wimps.
And the grand prize was not dying!
Yeah...I get that.Your argument has made me see the error of my ways.
I love how in One Piece they say (in the dub) that Nami's foster mom 'was sent to prison' and not 'shot down and killed...INSTANTLY', when I found that out, I nearly sent a hand-written letter to 4KIDS.Censorship in America is such a hilarious thing. Shielding kids from the evils of society, only for them to find out reality themselves.
