how did you start watching anime?

anyway
i started to watch One Peace when it was on at 5:00 or something
when it was on cartoon network and i thought awman a show about pieret's. then i was watching it on
toonami and on before that was Naruto and i fell i love that show
and i could'nt wait for next week..
as that was happening i started to drift away from One peace
right now i don't watch One peace anymore.
but i owe alot to one peace it's live changing to watch anime i mean all
i what to do is anime baste thing's
also i have a story about manga but that's a difrent thread..

sorry if i'm just rambling on

it was about the time I got cable at age 13 and started watching anime like devil man and the guyver and fist of the north star, as such I have never got into cute anime also now days I read more manga than watching anime.

As for me, I was watching TV when I was like 9 years old and Sailor Moon or Pokemon or some such was on.

I always thought that anime characters were cute. I would buy Hook-Ups skateboards for that reason. Then one day I was watching adult swim and anime came on and I liked it. So as a total noob, I joined the anime club at my school and went from there. Now I don't even like anime that much. LOL That's a joke but I do like manga better as far as story lines go. When it comes to anime, I like anything that is cute.



EDIT: I watched anime like Pokemon and Digimon a couple years prior to the above but since I didn't know I was watching anime I don't really count it as my official "started watching anime".

If I recall correctly, I first started watching anime when I was around the age of ten. I recall watching Pokemon and Digimon, and the odd clips from Sailor Moon. Gradually over the years I have branched out and have watched many other series, which to this day my top five would have to be: Spice and Wolf, Code Geass, Utawarerumono, Solty Rei, and 07-Ghost. However, there were, and still are some incredible series that I've seen which continue down my list of favorites. I don't think I could ever give up anime; anime is awesome!

I've been watching anime for 18 years, since I was 2 years old.

I started watching morning airing of Speed Racer (Mach GoGoGo in Japan) on Cartoon Network in 1991, and the Harmony Gold USA dub of Dragonball, which had a short lived broadcast in about 1991 or 1992.

As a kid, I watched a lot of mecha series and sentai series until the American "anime boom" in the late 90s, when DragonballZ, Ronin Warriors, and Mobile Report Gundam Wing began airing in rotation on Cartoon Network, bringing anime to a much wider audience than it previous had in the States.

Well the first anime I saw on TV was probably Sailor Moon when I was about 6 years old. But it didn't become serious until I was about 14.

I fell in love with anime after I saw Vampire Hunter D on TV. It was the late night horror movie .

I first watched Thundercats when I was very very small - probably about nine or ten, somewhere in there - and later on watched Sailor Moon and DBZ. I also vaguely remember watching GoBots in the afternoons, but I couldn't say when that was because it's been a long time ago.

I just had my 12yo b-day. Some days after one of my irl friends link a random Chobits ep to me. I think it looks interresting and starts watching it.. And that's pretty much how I started to watch animé.

Ofc there were also stuff like DBZ in the tv at that time. That doesn't count though.

i remember when i was younger, i was just flicking the channels and i saw sailor moon, so i decided to watch it. from then on, i just liked the way the characters were designed and started to look at other animes. i also watched pokemon, digimon and also escaflowne

i think almost everyone started with sailor moon.it was pretty popular and still is(somewhat)

I started watching anime because 2 years ago a friend gave me a cd with some japanese music, anD there was a folder called "GTO",i played its songs and I fell in love with them,then I looked for GTO on Internet,and a couple of months later I was watching that anime,I was keen on it.since then I like anime.

Mine is goofy. So one day many years ago I was on Google or some sorts and I found this image:

Being as clueless as I was, I thought it was Sailor Mars in Sailor Jupiter's uniform. Someone came up to me and was like "YOU LIKE KAGOME TOO?!?!?!" And I was confused and researched Kagome and was like "oh my.." And right about that time Adult swim was airing Inuyasha's first season. So then I got hooked on that, then FMA, then Fooly Cooly and so forth.

I used to watch Sailor Moon every day after school in 4th grade.
I never really watched the Pokemon anime, I just played the game and the cards.
I used to be a huge fan of Digimon though (still am).

Years ago I used to watch DBZ, pokemon, Yugioh, Shin chan and Digimon then nothing was on for years untill I found a channel that had Cowboy Bebop and Gits then I just started watching again then started buying DVD's.

I remember when I was young I used to watch Outlaw Star, Cardcaptors, and Sailor Moon on Toonami but then many years went by and I stopped watching anime (I didn't even know it was called anime then). I watched yu-gi-oh and pokemon when I was a kid but still didn't know they were anime. Then, about four years ago (I think) my friend told me about this show he just got done watching on adult swim called Fullmetal Alchemist and I fell in love with it instantly, watching it online. I also watched Naruto and then this love of anime grew to Death Note, Bleach, Code Geass, Ouran, and lots of Clamp anime and a lot of other anime.

Probably almost 20 years ago now with Akira. Around that time, I also saw Heavy Metal (not anime, obviously), which really struck a cord. Both of these unique shows got me interested in animation. It clearly wasn't 'kid stuff'.

It was different, and that's what captivated me.

Well my story is a gradual process.
I remember watching anime as a kid (Pokemon, DBZ, Samurai pizza cats) but at the time I hadn't even heard of the word anime let alone what it meant.
Then one day I was up late and I was bored so I flicked to cartoon network that had Adult Swim Anime Action on and saw this strange show called Inuyasha.
From there I kept watching and began to stay up and watch all their series like Full Metal Alchemist, Gundam Seed, Ghost in the Shell and Trinity Blood and I loved every minute of it.
It was then that my brother showed me something really cool.
You can find anime on the internet (At first it was mainly Naruto which is still one of my favourite series) and from there i have watched alot of animes, brought alot of DVD's and joined 4 different video stores so I can see all the anime I can.

and here I am today a proud anime fanatic

I started watching Pokemon,Card Captors, Dragon Ball Z, and Zoids at about age 6-7. At first I didn't know they were anime, I didn't even know what anime was.

Then my brother rented Akira and we watched it (I was 8-9 so I freaked a little), and he told me what anime was. From then on I've been into anime.

Pokemon and Digimon were my first animes that I watched. I loved Digimon and I was really desperate to watch it instead in TV so we bought a DVD of it. When we bought it, the episode 2 was really disappointing because the DVD won't work. ._.

It was really disappointing that I gave up watching Digimon. ._.

When I was younger the kids next door were all into anime, so they influenced me a lot. I watched Sailor Moon, DBZ, Cardcaptors, and a few more back on YTV. But I don't really consider that when I first got into anime.

I stopped once I got older, and then one day a year or so ago, I felt like watching the original Card Captor Sakura, and I loved it, so I started to watch more and more. And now I'm addicted.

DBZ is probably what really started my experience i just remember thinking to myself this is the coolest thing i ever saw I went to school the next day and found ought one of my best friends was a Fanatic of DBZ. Then came Pokemon we used to play tag with the pokemon stuffed animals I remember smoking people in the face or trying to lie about not gettting smoked by a flying Bulbasaur. the good o day's miss them allready.

I moved to a different high school and became friends with an upperclassman in my rotc class. He thought it was funny that I'm asian and never watched anime. He invited me to his friend's animation club and I saw an episode of one piece and Berserk. The next meeting I saw R.O.D. the OVA. Those episodes changed my career path.
