What instument(s) have/do you play?

Everyone loves music! So naturally many of us try our hand at it

my first instrument was trombone in middle school. after one year i quit band and took art instead, eventually i got good enough that i got to do a psuedo-stained glass window for the school

since highschool i've been playing guitar. I usually play electric (SG Custom Prophecy with Seymour Duncan Blackouts pickups into a Kustom 36' 1x12 coupe). Every now and then i feel like playing acoustic, so i go outside a punch a tree until my fists are bloody and then come back and play my SG like a real man

I have an electric guitar that I got when I was ten. Buuut, of course it was small so I could play it, and now I'd look rediculious if I tried to play it because now it's too small. >,...,<

I picked up the guitar about a year and a half ago, during which time I have come to realize that I have no musical ability what-so-ever. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying, though. My guitar is a Schecter Omen.

I started playing bass (Ibanez SRX-590) a few months back.
Don't really know a lot yet, but I haven't really had enough time to sit down with it yet.
And I don't own a amp and rigging up pro-tools everytime I want to play a little bass is too much work on this piece of junk pc (it takes like 10 min to boot it up). So I hope to be able to sit with it in the studios at school every now and then next year.

I also used to play a little guitar a few years back, but pretty much gave that up. I'm also the owner of a pretty awesome cowbell as well as a few shakers. Also was in a Lamb Of God cover band some years back where I did the vocals.

I also have my fair share of experience with programming music with midi.

Over the last year I've also player several different things because of school projects. So basic drum beats, different percussion and some rather weird toy store instruments are also stuff I can handle xP

I used to play the flute.
But, I didn`t like my band teacher, so I stopped by the end of the year. I liked it, but it wasn`t exactly me. So, I moved back to singing. XD

My first instrument was the piano. I started getting lessons at the age of seven and I'm still playing it to this day.

Another instrument that I played was the trumpet. It all started in fourth grade (when I was 9). I played the trumpet for four years and I can still remember some basic notes.

The flute was my third instrument and I played that for about two years.

Finally, the guitar was my most recent instrument that I learned. It was a one year course and I had fun learning a couple of chords and whatnot.

Oh I almost forgot about my recorder. I got that fairly early in my life and most of my learning was self-taught.

At times I play drums. I want to learn how to play a guitar. I envy those people who were expert in it. Like on our church, I only sing but others can play piano, guitar and also violin.

Well, the first instrument I started playing was the piano. I started at a young age and I still play to this day. My second one was the flute. I have been playing that for about 6 years in school band. My third was the clarinet. I taught myself. I started the violin but I put that one on hold since I didn't know the fingering that well and I have started teaching myself the guitar. And I am planning on taking up singing sooner or later.

My first instrument was the guitar.My dad wanted to bond with me and decided music would help. I'm okay I guess. My playing won't hurt your ears, but it's not exactly concert material.

Next, I started trying to play the violin. Frustrating.

Lastly, I can play a few songs on the piano. Fur Elise was the first song I played.

I started playing piano when I was five. Then I tried playing viola when I was around 10, but didn't really care for it. Then when I was about 12 I started the clarinet. I still play both clarinet and piano, I'm actually a music major as well as a business major. I'm not the best on these instruments, but I'm pretty capable. Hopefully sometime I can start teaching

I started playing guitar when I was five, in my church, I would just follow along, I wasnt too serious about it, then come middle school, my best friend (that son of a *****) told me "stop playing, your not even that good" that pissed me off, so I practiced for atleast 5 hours a day, just to show him up, then I got Halo 2, and I never really played guitar that much, till I went to the sci tech, and my grades sucked, so my parents took away my Xbox, so I got back into guitar. I don't really play games now.

I played violin for like, 6 years but I hated it so... yeah. I dont do that any more. I do sing though, have my whole life. : )

well i figured the way it would work is (1) we brainstorm on what kind of sound we wanna go for (2) someone starts by recording the main track using the instrument they specialize in (3) someone programs drums (or plays drums, but thats a big recording commitment) (4) the song keeps getting tranferred around until all the right people have contributed their track(s)

we can choose to make this a long term thing with multiple songs and choose a theme, or just make it a one-off thing for now to see how it goes. it would be fun to have a forum related theme though.

ha thats a cool list. we probably dont need to select a key in advance. I'm gonna PM everyone once this thread gets all the replies it seems it will get, and once we make the planning thread we'll work out the process

i got so excited that i came up with a bunch of little ideas on guitar today. i need to stop writing everything in minor pentatonics, they work great when you play metal but for something anime inspired it would have to be more upbeat
