So I heard that Yen Press will release all the Yotsuba volumes so far, plus 6,7 and 8, in English? Winter 2009 I think it was...

Why is it that these books are so hard to find now? I've looked all over NY's best anime/manga stores, and I only found one copy of vol. 5...

The first six volumes are still being released. According to YenPress's release schedule, they'll be out by the end of September. The 7th volume will be out in Decemeber, and the 8th volume will be out in April, which will follow YenPress's typical 6-month release style.

I'm currently saving up for them. While I don't like Azumanga Daioh, I really like Yotsuba&I's form of innocence and the way the characters interact. I hope I don't end up getting a moe disaster.

Dio (Buggin') and myself aren't exactly fans of the "genre".

I really love this series. The conversations they have are priceless. It would be nice to see this animated as well but I heard the author said it would be too difficult to xfer the scenes from manga to screen.

Yeah, something about that it wasn't suited well for animation, despite the fact that Azumanga Daioh did so well!
