[Tsundere Works]

How many of you play them? What is your latest game? How is it? [Please do not go off topic talking about the situation of Eroge in Japan. Please do not ask for Eroge on Mac or Linux. Most are Windows based.]

Note: All of the icons are Eroge games. Each game eats up around 3 GB, if not more. This is not my desktop.

Brief Terminology:

Eroge: Eroge is a portmanteau of the words: Erotic Game, translating to: エロチクゲム (Pronounced Erochiku Gemu) Eroge is basically a game with 18+ material, but with usually Anime-style artwork.

These games are mainly mountains of text (Usually in Japanese) with high-quality CG Artwork done by artists. Not much user interaction is required, just clicking the mouse or hitting enter on the keyboard to advance the text. It’s like reading a book, but with many images, thus, the Visual Novel. Sometimes, you will be given a short array of choices to chose from which will advance the story in different directions, eventually leading to different endings. Most games feature an auto-advance option to automatically advance the text if your hands are busy.

Eroge is a little different from regular Visual Novels in the sense that it contains much more sexual content, but they’re almost always in only Japanese.

Not all Visual Novels contain adult content, for example, VNs for the PS2.

I've tried one, but I found it boring. There really was no point to me sitting there and watching the guy do whatever he wanted, and all I had to do was point to what he wanted to buy the girl, or in what direction he went. I might try another one, but not any time soon.

If you do, I'd suggest "Kana - Little Sister". Yes, there's hentai, and yes there's (quasi) incest. However, it is VERY VERY SAD. It's the only thing 4chan actually cares about, other then cats. I was depressed for a day after finishing it and fiction-based depression is not a condition I frequently experience.

Anyway, I don't play these games anymore, but I used to. Season of Sakura was alright in spite of the fact that it's entire cast was stolen from other sources (Rei, Misato, and Asuka from NGE, Three chicks from Magic Knight Rayearth, two chicks from something else, Tenchi's dad from Tenchi Myuo). I forget what the last one I played was called, but it was pretty good for being horror-themed, which doesn't exactly work for the genre but anyway.

As a former hardcore console gamer I find the novel concept boring too (wasn't much of a fiction reader in the first place), so I prefer playing HRPGs or any sort of action involved other than just clicking for the next line (mahjong, racing etc).

Or, better yet, play one of those "games" in class.

I can't remember the last eroge I (seriously) played, but the one I have a love-hate relationship with is Prism Ark. The second from last ending put me off from completing the final character's route; not only have I gone through 7 chars along a repetitive lame RPG system and main storyline, I dislike every aspect of the second-final character in question, even the seiyuu voicing her. And milking it with a fandisc and a poor anime adaptation was the last straw.

i've only played a couple, and really the only one i found entertaining was Bible Black. the story is actually interesting and the character designs done well, plus the hentai aspect is pretty good.

i think in general the eroge pc novel or just pc novel genre needs some updates and tune-ups. are there any current day ones that utilize lots on animation like the Viper games?
again i'm not even remotely well versed in this stuff so forgive me if eroge games have evolved drastically since bible black!

edit: and HOLY CRAP @ the desktop image in the OP! that guy must fap himself into exhaustion each day! it would be hilarious if it turned out that eroge desktop belonged to the CEO of a powerful comany!

Same here. My Japanese isn't very good and I wasn't able to get text-hooker to work, though. For some reason, it didn't like Shuffle.

I just finished the Katawa Shoujo demo, and it's actually very good. The final release is going to be awesome, although those going for Hanako's path may be in for one hell of a surprise. LOLOL

I was playing Flyable Heart a few months ago, but I stopped all of a sudden. It's very good. It's not centered around sex, but it has its moments. It has a lot of plot to keep the users entertained, and the background music is actually very good.

Graphics-Intensive Eroge? Yeah, there's plenty.

Here's a hack of one of those games. Instead of static 2D CG, there's 3D animation all the time.

The game is called Lovedeath 2 by Teatime. Here's Meiko from Vocaloid singing "Wedding Wars."

Version 3 of the game was released in November 2008.

However, some of these games are so bad, they're good. Surprise, surprise; not all Eroge gamers fap to a 2D drawing. But they sure laugh at the 3D work. Especially during the sex scenes.

Bible Black's something that's pretty old, but it's still very good. Didn't know they had an animation, though. =]

Edit: Rapelay would be a lot better if they released it for the Nintendo Wii. LOLOL

or for the DS. Maybe for the iPod Touch too. XD

Actually, from what I see, there are a lot more 3Deroge-tards than the ones who play 2D. And I mean A LOT. It's probably because some of those popular Illusion games (makers of Rapelay and an infamous 3D eroge brand) have basically no storyline, just the functionalities; English patches come out real quick for those. Don't forget the MA@YA-designed 3D Custom Shoujo, too.

I would rather prefer Illusion doing stuff like Schoolmate than the AG stuff. Not only is the chara design gorgeous and moe, it's also visual novel style ("ADV" or "adventure game" is the genre name in Japanese, though to this day I still don't know where you can find the sense of "adventure" from those games lol).

The next 3D eroge phenomenon is Time Leap Paradise by FrontWing, already billed as the "eroge Idolm@ster".

If you want to continue with the discussion you need to notice one thing:- Eroge is basically divided into two, those that are made for the sex (that includes Atelier Kaguya-style ADVs where storyline is completely disregarded for ero CGs and scenes) and those that are made for the story (in this case, your usual Key/Leaf/whathaveyou). The marketing strategy for the former is short-lived, although sex sells, the attention garnered by these games is close to none. Conversely you will find console ports, better music and even anime adaptations for the latter, making it sustainable in the long run, in addition to already having a good following of the ADV concept (these people would probably rather buy the H-less console ports for the extras rather than skipping through the PC ver. eroscenes).

yeah i've tried one game of the former category. sexy beach 3. it was more comical than anything else to be honest. I prefer well done 2d artwork, but the static stuff seems pretty lazy. The viper games are ancient right? why is animation in the 2d realm not the norm? again i've only played a handful of eroge games and havent in quite a while so pardon any stupidity on my part ^ ^;

i think Stepmother's Sin gets the award for most hilarious artwork. ever.
