That's a great reason. My favorite president was Lincoln because he wore a tophat.

    Bill Clinton.

No one did more for the economy and international relations than him. He took us from our largest deficit(at the time), repairing the damage done by the Reagan and Bush administrations (and a bit of Carter), and giving us the largest surplus we've ever seen.

I would say Andrew Jackon, who was an all-American bad[bum] and has a fantastic story as an individual, but his presidency itself wasn't all that great.

I would say Lincoln. No one else managed to lie to the public more than him, first saying the Civil War was about bringing back the Union and he had no intention of abolishing slavery, then in the last year of the war turning around and saying "You're free dawgs! Suckas!"

Back, by popular demand! Now with new avy.

80% of the people who voted for Bush voted for him twice, and then turned on him.

Thats true. It is really sad too.
I guess I can understand why a very few amount of people do like him, though I think those people have issues they need to sort out be4 voteing ever again.

I chose Teddy Roosevelt. However, there are two Bush entries possible, and no defining W. Therefore, whomever it was that "should go die in a ditch" very possibly meant the first George Bush.

As for those kind words, I'm the one who gave you negative rep. You hate Republicans? Fine. You can hate me all you want. Are you a Democrat? Do you consider yourself a Liberal? Well, that's fine too. The distinction is that while I'm a member of the same party as W, I would never want someone to die in a ditch for disagreeing with my principles/opinion. Typical of the people who hold your position, to expound tolerance, but only for those in agreement with you.

As for Gjallarhorn's post, I was going to say something about gutting the military and intelligence services leaving us less able to defend against 9/11, but George Tenet also implies Bush I started that process. Personally, I think Clinton was too busy lying under oath and defending his own scandals to have much effect on the economy. But then, I know how old I was during the Clinton Years, and I'm older than you. You know what I remember about the Clinton Years? Monica was ugly, my best friend had a crush on Hillary, and...that's about it. What I'm getting at is that what CNN/Fox says about history and what we've actually experienced are two very different things. Neither one of us had any knowledge of life or economics back then, and I think it's silly to accept something as true because Dad, the Party,or a major news source has claimed it to be fact.

It was just a part of the post-Cold War process. With the Cold War ending and no immenant threat on the horizon, we had no definite need to be pumping as much into our intelligence agencies as we had been during the Cold War. With the knowledge we had at the time, this wasn't a bad idea. Only in the hindsight we have gained in our "post-9/11 world" can we see that it was a mistake to cut it as much as we did.

A scandal which didn't start until 6 years into his presidency (1998). More than enough time to deal with other things, which he certainly did. At it is not as though the the following 2 years he did nothing beyond lying through his teeth before those who elected him...though he did do quite a bit a whole lot of that.

After Reagan's presidency, we had a federal deficit of over $200billion*
After Bush#1's presidency, we had a federal deficit of over $300billion
After Clinton's presidency, we had a federal surplus of over $200billion
(After Bush#2's presidency, we had a federal deficit of $482billion, and I don't even want to imagine what Obama's going to have added to that by the time he's done...)
*Quite a bit of this can be attributed to Carter.

What I'm getting at is that what CNN/Fox says about history and what we've actually experienced are two very different things. Neither one of us had any knowledge of life or economics back then, and I think it's silly to accept something as true because Dad, the Party,or a major news source has claimed it to be fact.
I trust CNN/Faux about as far as I can throw their collective editorial staffs, and I'm a pretty scrawny guy. While I didn't have any knowledge at the time, and I didn't start paying attention to politics until around the age of 11, I've read and studied quite a bit in the 9 years since then. I think that works well for me, because I'm not swayed by any biases I could have had at the time otherwise. And for the record, I think both parties are eroding our country because they're both full of bumbling idiots doing nothing but bickering with one another and representing their respective parties before their respective constituents.

Me being in the military I dont know about the part with takeing money out of intelligence because OEF is not a war like veitnam or the world wars. OEF is a war about winning the People we try to make the insurgance look like criminals in the eyes of the people its the only way to win this war.

    Your sarcasm amuses me.

Additionally, contrary to Gjallarhorn's glowing appraisal of Mr. Clinton, he most certainly did not help the US economy. He did, however, approve of a couple very clever maneuvers that fudged the numbers of unemployed by changing definitions of categories that define unemployed, as well as continue the federal pushing of banks to accept risky loans (Don't worry, .gov's got your back). The "budget surplus" was not a surplus of money or an indication that our nation was out of debt; all it meant was for a period of time we were not spending more than we had. But, in his defense, Mr. Clinton didn't do too much damage, especially compared to the presidents who came before and after him.

I suppose it's difficult for me to pick a single man as the "greatest" president of all time; it'd be more a competition of who sucked less. There are a whole lotta presidents with a whole lotta suckage, so I haven't figured out which of them did the least damage. However, Andrew Jackson's opposition to a national bank certainly earns huge awesome points with me, even if his presidency was fairly lackluster.

Why is Obama even on the list? He hasn't been in office long enough...

If we're looking at the entirety of time I'd have to say, well, me.

Your kids really enjoyed it when I gave out free teleporters btw.

And terraforming Jupiter? You can't argue against that.

Erm, doesn't terraforming imply 'terra' to form? If so, I can think of an argument against that, but it would be the type of thing someone eloquent enough could sell Congress on.

Re: Eris - I don't know near enough physics to be discussing this, but my little brain is straining to figure out if this can be done (whether it's a good idea or not is irrelevant).
