You know what I mean. These are the things that are done randomly by someone and subsequently reproduced in mass amounts for a given amount of time. Some are fun, all are fads. Here are some that I noticed.

*posting your "family" in your sig
*fantags (ie Maru Fan buttons)
*writing "'nuff said" at the end of a post
*

 

spoiler tags

*strike tags
*using images in a reply post
*quoting someone, changing what they said, and saying "fixed it for ya"
*putting random crap in the edit comments
*posting which thread inspired another in the OP

The only ones I can remember actually doing, are:

- posting which thread inspired another in the OP
- using images in a reply post (maybe once or twice)

Never had a "family" in my sig, never will.

I quote people in my sig if it's something that really amuses me.
For editing, I just state why I edited, like typo's or wanting to add more.

I didn't mean to suggest that any of these were new. Certainly some are, and some aren't. That's one I'm glad is buried for the most part.

The whole "tl;dr" thing is the most retarded fad/trend I've ever seen.
It is simply counter-productive to actual posting!

However, the trend I seem to notice the most is people posting in threads... it's crazy. Everyone is doing it.

The purpose of TLDR:ing is to point out that someone has written too much text, and not done it in a way that is readable, or not for a reason that merits the three and a half libraries of congress worth of text.

If this post was a 5 screen long train of thought about why TLDR:ing is important, without paragraphing or punctuation, a TLDR response would be merited.

Lots of people say "FTW" and up until not that long ago, I had no clue what that meant. I think it's pretty dumb to say: for the win. We're not playing a game, that I'm aware of.

I've never caught on to these trends. Most trends are often memes like, "It's a trap" or "barrelrolls" so they don't exactly count as trends.
