Romance Anime Recommendations III

Wanted: anime centred on offbeat, understated, and/or dysfunctional relationships.

Background: just coming off of 'Welcome to the N.H.K.' I've only had minimal exposure to titles properly in the (romance?) genre, but enough to have experienced severe dissatisfaction with what I've seen. Need some help navigating these waters.

EDIT: So after some research my watchlist consists of the following:
- Clannad
- Nodame Cantabile
- School Days
- True Tears
- ef - a tale of memories
- Kimikiss Pure Rouge: while noticeably less nauseating than my previous experiences with the genre this is still a bit on the boring side. I'll give it a couple of more chances (ep4 atm) but it's probably out. UPD: never mind this is just the cutest thing ever it's not what I was looking for but it's still awesome
Any assistance in paring this down, suggesting a viewing order, or even adding to it still welcome.

Clannad's not what I was hoping for either. It is, however, both breathtaking and heartwarming despite being largely predictable. I think I'll stick it through, because I'm enjoying it immensely. Perhaps I'm not quite as jaded to these as I had originally thought.

I'm gonna say this right away i don't really go into romance that much so there is only one Manga i read

Personally i really like it because of the story, and i found it very easy to relate to the main character.
Don't want to reveal anything so if you want to know you will have to read it.

hi all. can someone suggest me any romance anime where the female main character more older than male main character and female main character have mature personality. for now i only found anime kimikiss pure rouge with such criteria. anyone know more??

ok, does anyone know of a good anime where the main guy gets somewhere romantically? i mean i'm not looking for hentai, just the knowledge that the guy and his love interest got somewhere besides a peck. (huge fan of sekirei so anything like that is good too)

I second Nodame Cantabile for weird relationships. Also give Bakemonogatari a try. These quotes help out showing their relationship.

There's Clannad and Itazura na Kiss. They both dedicate a lot of episodes into following the couple after they established their relationship.

I already searched the internet a couple of times and as it seems to me, there are not THAT many (good) Yuri Anime... (Or i am just horrible at finding such...)

Also, I am looking for Anime like Zero no Tsukaima, Shakugan no Shana or Dog Days.

Best case Scenario here for me would be:
A Yuri anime with a drawing style which looks like said anime, since I don't really like THAT realistic looking characters. Sorry, but I can't remember an example of drawing style, which i did not like...

I would really appreciate help ^^

For yuri, maybe Maria Holic? Maybe it's not yuri but once you begin watching it you'll understand what I mean.
For Shakugan no Shana/Zero no Tsukaima, try Kaze no Stigma and maybe Hidan no Aria. If you liked the main heroine for both series, try Toradora (a romance comedy, but good nonetheless)


I unfortunately ran dry in the romance manga sector. I pretty much like all types of romance but I'm not too big a fan where love triangles are a main part of the story or where it's overly depressing.
Some manga that I read and liked: Private Prince, Dou Danjo!, Desire Climax, AAA, Goong, Bitter Virgin, Hanatsukihime, Kimi wa Petto, Kokuhaku Kurabu, Kare Kano, Lilim, Lock On!, Love So Life, Itoshi no Kana, Hot Gimmick, Giri Koi, Lovey Dovey, Mars, Power, Pretty Face, Akuma de Sourou and a few others.

Also if someone can recommend works similar to Mx0, Pretty Face or Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa I would greatly appreciate. Love Kano Yasuhiro

Go with 'Sola'. It is a great anime, but lots of violence in it.
Also, Angel Beats. It makes you cry most of it, and its great. Please watch that:3

But um... I need a recommendation. I hope you guys don't mind. I was looking for a manga centered around a tragic relationship. I've got this thing about romantic tragedies. Make me cry, I don't mind! It can be yaoi, yuri, or heterosexual (is there a Japanese term for that or..?), either or. If possible, anything to do with Japanese mythology and folklore would be nice (I'm already reading Black Bird, if you're wondering.). I can take violence and I can take smut. But I have started and dropped too many series that I just ended up hating. So I thought I'd just ask you guys. Any ideas?

Hmm.... I would have to reccommend Suzuka or Clannad and after story. Ooh Kannazuki no miko is a really good romance, this one is a good reccommendation. Just there's so many good ones, any idea where to start?
