Heya, I've just recently started to draw, with the help of a couple of how-to books So I'll just post the drawings I have here, and I would love to get some constructive criticism!
Also, in the future, I might buy a pen tablet, I've heard good things about them.


I usually take around 1 or 2 hours to finish a drawing from pencil to colors :3 Maybe 60 min for the lineart only... Depends :3

Newest: Yet another Suigintou drawing!

Quick sketch of Suigintou! The wings were pretty much black color smeared all over :P
First: With color in face and an extra arm lol

To make up for the failed attempt to color my previous drawing, I did a quick one in 20 min ^^


Kodomo fullbody, what do you think?


I tried drawing a kodomo, and an embarrassed expression, and I dunno how it turned out, tell me, please? ^^

Here, I gave Maya from Phoenix Wright a go, her eyes seems off.





Yeah, I messed this one up, managed to get a big ugly pen line in her hair, where it was NOT supposed to be ><
EDIT: Tried to fix the line with photoshop lol

Yeah, you can see that I'm unsteady on my hand, so the lines are a little shaky, as you can see. Any tips on how to be more steady?

Humans, as far as I'm concerned, are the hardest animals to draw. The proportions are complex, limb length and joint definition, along with acknowledging all of the bones that stick out through the skin make the whole ordeal complex. But you seem well on your way to getting that down.
A good start.

Well, keep practising.. Make sure you hold pencil as often as you could.. That will make your line more steady as the time goes..

Btw, I tried to draw Konata with her thumbs up and eyes closed, but it got kinda messed up lol, tell me if you'd like to see.

Pretty good stuff, much better than me when i was a beginner. Keep it up, keep practicing, cause practice does make perfect, you will see how you improve A LOT. Go for harder drawings from time to time, stuff you think you cant draw, thats always a good thing.

Hmm not bad. Manga is a difficult style to start with but once you get going and you have a few techniques and some experience under your belt it becomes easy. Kudos to you too for colouring the images. Colouring is a real pain and the quicker you get used to it the better otherwise your drawings will be black and white forever (like mine...). Anyway a very good start. Just keep practicing and you will certainly become a pro.

I like that last one the most, it's not semi-fail.
For a beginner super-deformed chibis are easier because you're not constrained by the normal rules of proportion.
And besides that it looks good. It's cute, your shading and coloring is good. Although your lines remind me a bit of Charley Brown, but as someone said above, if you hold a pencil a lot and keep drawing and practicing you can smooth those out.
An exercise to work on your lines is to trace images on tracing paper, try not to "chicken scratch" with your pencil (I have a habit of doing that) try to just follow the lines of whatever you're tracing as exactly and smoothly as possible without lifting your pencil. Don't worry if the tracing paper moves or whatever, the purpose is to practice your lines and if you get bogged down in the tracing aspect of it I've found that your brain disengages from the exercise and it won't do you any good.

My only comment to that is that it's only perfect if you're a guy drawing a guy or girl drawing girl. Also assuming that the person you're drawing is of a similar build and similar age.
Sure you can get the rough pose down using yourself but for the specifics it is very hard to draw humans. I've been drawing for years, can draw plants, animals and landscapes well but when it comes to humans I still screw up the proportions.
Maybe (probably) I just suck and need to take a figure drawing class but it's just plain hard.

i have to agree for a beginner these are pretty good, your anatomy is especially exceptional for a beginner!!!

the only thing you could work on is the faces, a little more detail would do amazing, but its prbly just the drawing utencil you used that made it look awkwurd, either way you definitely have great potential ^_^

I don't really like them "how to draw books". I prefer anatomy books, and other art books. :3
But not bad for first attempts. A bit messy, which you can easily fix. Did you use crayons for that? o.o

When you use something waxy, don't draw so hard with your pencil..it'll smudge. D:

^^ Work a bit more on the shading, and the colors for it. Study the "Color Theory". Trust me.
