Default the fall of the king of pop

i cant believe no ones made a topic about this yet. im both happy and sad about the death of michael jackson. happy because the media has one person to scandalize, and the whole child touching thing. sad because we have lost a ledgend. that guy was an amazing singer and dancer, he had the most selling album ever, he invented the moon walk, and practically pioneered the music video indusrty. he will be sorely missed by many, and many others will be happy to see him off, mostly due to the media and things like people magizine.

i wonder what kind of funeral hill have?

    furries suck. plain and simple.

Also, kenshin pwns all other swordsmen

He didn't invent the Moonwalk, but he did make it his own.

    RIP MJ.
Even his enemies have him as their emergency contact.
    He's a lover, not a fighter.
But, he is also a fighter, so don't get any ideas

From what I've seen on the news, his stuff is flying off the shelves. They say he wanted people to rediscover him. For better or worse, he did get what he wanted.

    I was devistated! I couldn't believe it!!!
I was always a big fan of MJ. *sigh*
But I admit it! I cried!!!
I was wathcing the BET awards and they let Janet Jackson come up on stage and say a few words. It was sweet and it was sad. Now on iTunes, the top ten songs are basically all my Michael.
Most people didn't like him but by the ned of the day, he was a great artist. We were lucky to have him.
Oh! Amd there's even an offical tribute song for him.

His funeral will probably be broadcasted. I bet you! lol!

I wonder how many of these "fans" that have been popping up were actually fans while he was alive, and how many have just jumped on the Jacko bandwagon because he is dead.

It's funny how a bunch of allegations and lawsuits can ruin your career and reputation for good.

How did this cretin ever become the king of anything?

His voice (and appearance) was far more effeminate than even Jon Anderson's voice (and he couldn't obscure it with a madman's lyrics) and he started the ridiculous, inane trend in which singers, in order to distract their audience from a lack of actual musical talent, dance poorly on stage with a headset microphone.

It doesn't matter if he was or if he wasn't a pervert. He was wholly unremarkable, and I protest these absurd claims of musical genius. If Michael Jackson is the king of pop, then Tiny Tim's "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" is a heavy metal masterpiece.

what the hell does this have to do with anything? when i first heard . so, how does it make the song (or the band) any less awesome? i'm not saying that i ever really liked jackson, just dismissing your argument.

I might sound like.. someone from another planet, but I think Jackson is not king of anything. His music/singing/dancing all make me want to puke. And when I heard that Jackson died, I couldn't care less. I wasn't sad, happy, shocked or anything. I just heard the news and said "So, what?" I don't know why everybody makes a big deal out of it. (Or I know, but I don't care.)

Nothing the media said about him is interesting to me. Whether he raped children or not, whether he was killed or committed suicide, whether invented the moon walk or invented the moon itself -- I don't care. He sucks and that's all. And now he's dead. Let him RIP. Go find yourself something useful to think about.

i dont particularly like SRV's music but i'm still capable of recognizing his contribution to music and feeling sad for his (or anyone's) untimely death. Same with Hendrix. I like a few things he did, otherwise i'm not a fan at all. I still know he's largely responsible for a lot of guitarists that came after him.

Jackson turned the pop industry on its head. I dont like all his stuff, but i grew up on his music and like quite a few of his tunes. Sure it blows chunks that his public turned on him toward the end of his life, but i dont really care about any of that or all the hubub about his death.

the FACT (whether you agree or not) is he's a legend of music, and remembering him is no waste of time like you are implying.

Yes, I, your god (Grammar gag! Bonus points! A dancing pink elephant is called for! ), really feel that way. The fact that he was effeminate would not condemn him alone, but combined with his other, myriad eccentricities, it's just too much.
...and he made beautiful songs, and his dancing skills were great...
If he is to be called the King of Pop (music), then he should be crowned for musical accomplishments, not silly dancing.
...you tell me who had better dancing skills then MJ...
Nobody dances well, because dancing sucks. That's all you're going to get out of me on that topic, I'm afraid.
...and please dont name no silly lil rapper
You obviously are not familiar with my attitude towards rap, and consequently rappers.

Firstly, it's the compounded weirdness. Secondly, since I neither know nor care who or what "delorean" is, you have not swayed me. Thirdly, I have no problem with effeminate voices, assuming they're singing to good music. Ever listen to good rock from the seventies? I do, and damn near half of the guys singing sound either like eunuchs or women. Hell, Freddie Mercury was most definitely gay, yet I still like Queen (Look at the name, even!). Michael Jackson simply has never been good enough to warrant being called the King of Pop.

Were someone to say Michael Jackson was influential, I could not rightly deny it, though I can still think they were horrible influences. Similarly, he was impressive, inasmuch as he certainly made an impression on me, though not a very flattering one.

I think I deserve some credit for the Tiny Tim reference, though, no matter your opinion of Michael Jackson.
And can we please stop calling him MJ? I keep picturing Michael Jordan when I read that, and it kinda freaks me out.

The King of Pop died over a decade and a half ago, when his skin color did (as far as I'm concerned)

I'm kinda sad about my generations because they emphasize that Michael is gay because they grew up not being exposed to his success, and knowing that he's gay.

Also, a great performer died. He was a performer almost all his life.

Who-hoa, stop right there. I wouldn't say that mostly screamy vibrato/falsetto they used back then was feminine. Jackson uses the soft falsetto throughout the whole song (and in POP, as opposed to pretty much everyone else who used it in ALT ROCK) and that plus his regular voice make his songs sound feminine, but I still think he has a good voice. He could have put it to much better use.

@3pleT: I said GOOD rock from the seventies, not crap that was bad even then.
In case you didn't read with your brain turned on (as I often do on these boards), I didn't say heavy metal, like Led Zeppelin. I said "rock."

I'd say Jon Anderson would be the most extreme example. His voice has been described in reviews as "pixies on helium," but he doesn't even need to resort to falsetto. Heck, he even talks like a eunuch. If you want to hear what I'm describing, Yes's "Spirit of Survival" can be Googled very easily, but I don't think I'm allowed to post the video here under the stricter rules.
It's also an issue that the music behind his voice is pretty lackluster, throwaway pop.

You know, I actually had progressive rock in mind (mostly) when I said vibrato/falsetto (i don't listen to metal), but let's not go off topic. Let them pay their respects to Jackson... AGAIN!

It would appear you and I do not listen to the same progressive rock, then, since I've yet to hear Anderson actually use falsetto, so freakishly high is his voice already. Pity.
Let them pay their respects to Jackson... AGAIN!
But then the question again becomes, "What has he done to earn anyone's respect?"

Oh well. Even I can appreciate that one madman shouting at another's fanatical following grows tiresome after a while.

You may lament as you please! I'll trouble you no more in this thread!
