Your post is kind of confusing. It seems to contradict itself, but Ill try and address it anyway.

I'm not trying to solve anything, I just like the discussion. People who discuss sport don't expect to solve their teams problems but will still debate solutions or causes for the enjoyment.

Ok, cool. The origional question was does religion itself breed violence? Yes religion does preach hate but religion also preaches peace. And when you've got these two conflicting messages it really falls down to teachers and the environment you grew up in and what part you learned not the religion itself...then again if religion wasnt there at all there would be no hate to preach.
