Internet vs Real World

What are the things you like about the internet that the real world doesn't provide and vice versa.

Internet:
+People always get to know you first by your personality.
+Never discriminated by your gender/sex/age/appearance at least until its made public.
+I can punch/kick/shoot someone in the face and get away with it. (online games)
-People are meaner (can also be good)
-Most of the people aren't very honest
-lag

Real World:
+You can use all 5 senses.
+Outdoor physical activities.
+I can punch/kick/shoot someone in the face and witness their reaction in person.
-World is a very cruel place
-You can't ban people
-Viruses are much worse in the real world

+Friendship based of personality
+Alot easier to express opinions

-Loss of connection can halt all this

I like about the internet it is much easier to make a friendly connection with some one over the internet because you are just going personality alone, which is good most of the time, and its easier to talk to people and express your opinions then in person but i guess in the real atleast can go retail shopping thats always fun and i can go out with my friends but its all up to my mood i guess

Yeah its easier to make friends online. A lot of my shy friends chat mad online but in person they are much more quiet.

When I said the real world is a cruel place I'm talking about people dying from hunger, physical violence, gangs, murders, etc. You don't experience that in the internet (unless its a game which is fake).

I'm actually nicer on the internet than irl. It might have to do with the increase of testosterone and phermones that makes me act like a jerk.

E-peen comes to mind. I haven't studied the subject (I'm not sure if anyone has), but if I were to make a W.A.G., I'd say that certain ego-related behavior that people are more likely to do in groups in "real-life" interactions are probably much more common on an individual basis in interactions through electronic media.

I can say all sorts of mean stuff on the internet, and not have to fight anyone over it. But isn't that half the fun?

I can live out my fantasies online - no, I don't mean the X-rated stuff, either. GTA4 has multiplayer. I can create mayhem, death, and violence, while sharing it with others.

Meanwhile, I just got licensed by my state to carry a firearm at work. I had to qualify with it, and shot a perfect score [250]. I'm an even better shot in life than I am in Call of Duty. I can't kill anyone with a grenade launcher in real life though. You win some, you lose some.

Interactions online are great for debates and philosophy and banter, but there's nothing that compares to meeting someone in person. I know a guy who had an internet girlfriend. I'd never do that. Sure, with a cam you can see and hear her. But you can't touch or smell her, can't share a meal with her, can't do...other things that may or may not be completely innocent, but all the while engage the senses [get your mind out of the gutter, there's only room for me in there]

Real life wins.

+ Consequence-free lulz at the expense of other people's pain.
- reddit.com. Seriously, why even bother blogging? All you'll get is 20-100 people with Aspberger's syndrome flaming your stuff into cinders based on the headline alone.

Meatwebs:
+ Sex
+ Booze
- Everything is slow. It doesn't take a 30 minute bus ride to get to AF, now does it? It takes 30 seconds of booting up firefox (which is mostly the URL bar loading the ridiculous amount of pages I've visited).
- Maintaining relationships (of any kind) with people is a drag. At this point I settle for people thinking I'm ingenious, pretty weird, but ultimately trustworthy.

+ I don't have to shower after being sociable
+ A higher rate of honesty.
- I have to pay for it.
- Flirting with people is awkward, and lacks any payoff.

Real Life

+ Sex.
+ The ability to move, and use nonverbal communication.
- There seems to be a higher occurence of stupid people.
- No respawn.

Oops a lot of negatives here.
- People think it's alright to flirt and be ridiculous about it because "oh my God it's a girl on the net"
- People create e-personas, so I don't trust most of 'em. I couldn't keep up a lie like that, it's a little lame. It usually means they don't have a life IRL if they need to do that.
- You can't tell from a person's body language if they mean what they are saying or not. In other words, text can be misleading.
- People discriminate more against you if you are female and in position of power on the internet than IRL.
- Morons think they can be as insulting as they please or harass people all they want "because it's the internet" - yay banhammer ^__^
- Lame people fall in "love" after a few PMs - Get a real gf/bf
+ Trolls and idiotic retards can be banned >=3
+ I've met a few very good friends from all over the world that I talk to on a regular basis.
+ I've learned a lot from research on the internet
+ It has helped me improve my graphic design skills. I know I can read a lot of books IRL, but other designers online have provided tips and vice-versa.

Real Life

+ At least you can more or less judge a person's character when you meet them face to face.
- You can't ban the real life idiots, so you just have to put up with them,
+ I have some very good friends IRL, there's nothing like physical people when you need someone to talk to
+ Fresh air and sunshine - the outdoors
