my mom said in the late 80s it was only music video after music video now its like a reality channel instead of music. i mean they have the ocasional music video show now and then but its mainly filled with "my bffs" and "real world road ruls". yesterday i even saw an episode of spongebob xD

MTV has been full of suck and fail for a very long time. Their programming is so far away from any type of "musical" television, that they might as well rename themselves to the "Corporate crap teen vapid tramp" channel.
Long gone are the days of Daria, Headbanger's Ball, Ĉon Flux, Beevis and Butthead, My So Called Life, and all those original shows from the early 90's.
And MTV2 isn't much better, either. VH1 is basically the same also, except for Best Week Ever and their I love the 80's series, plus other shows that are somewhat watchable (among the tons of "reality" shows.)

BET makes black people look bad. If I was an African American television channel, I would never EVERput Mo'Nique on TV. Despite being a terrible, loudmothed comedian, she forces stereotypes upon herself. That's just me though.
Much like 4chan, MTV was never good.

I've never watched it, because there is no MTV here. In my country the equivalent is "Much Music", which also airs those annoying reality shows/sitcoms.
I really think they should stick to the music, because that's what I originally watch it for.

OP is a decade or so behind. Even when I was < 10 I was forced to wake up at ungodly times to watchsyndicated episodes of Sailor Moonthe decent videos on the MTV. Like Soundgarden's (which I swear to Pesci actually looked good back then).

Aeon Flux, Daria, and Beevis and Butthead were some of their best shows. You'd think MTV2 would be better, but it's not.
when i power on my tv before, mtv was one of the channels i'd check out first. But recently, the channel's just full of crap (the heck i want music videos and then what, i get paris hilton's bf whatever show). Maybe that's also why sites like youtube became a hit, because people can actually see more music videos in it than the mtv channel itself,
It was nine years ago. MTV was a lost cause, but MTV2 was still a bastion of sanity. Then... not so much.

You get to know what there lives are like. they are not perfect even though they are rich.

That's not true. I bet you wish to date one.
No, I'd like to marry one, kill their parents and any siblings they may have then when they inherit the estate divorce them and take half. I'm materialistic as the next guy, but I have no love for the sorts of spoiled brats that wind up on those shows. I think people that watch reality shows based on the lives of rich people are fundamentally shallow- they are either reinforcing their preconceptions on wealthy people or lusting after their lifestyles. I find it completely pathological.
