Cool Browser based vs client based mmorpgs

now a days games like TRIBALWARS and TRAVIAN are taking mmo world by a clean swipe, and giving tough time to the much listed client based mmorpgs like WOW ,and ragnarok so my question is what do you guys think, who will win this war ?the good old client based mmorpgs, or new browser based morpgs.

i personally think, games like wow nad ragnarok would win it, because browser based mmorpgs are kinda slow ,and repetative but who can tell what time will show us ,

I would have to say client-based. A game that functions on a browser is generally limited to using Perl, Lua, Python, etc. for the server-side code and Flash, Javascript, Java, etc. and with the exception of Java, these languages aren't exactly well suited for making an MMO, though even Java probably wouldn't be able to handle a game like EVE or City of Heroes.

A client-based game, however, will generally use C++ or something similar, much more capable and allows for more powerful functions than you'd get in a browser game.

Generally, desktop client-based games are always going to offer more in any sort of genre. But with stuff like the Unity Game Engine, things are only getting better for browsers.

I guess I sorta dont want to admit it to myself but yeah client based is just more powerful and browser based is too limited just like what strife said. The response time is just... you just cant do certain things on a browser environment

But, its up to the player and what the person feels like playng. I mean, like travian, even if its not like City of heroes or WoW it can still be fun. Sometimes it can get tiring just bashing critters over and over you know and something different can be like a refresher of sorts.
