What Are you Reading?

So, yeah, reading is a dying trend in today's society but I still do. I wanna know what you guys are reading!

Name the novel, magazine, poem whatever and its author. (We dont want any copyright lawsuits do we?) Also, include a short summary.

Me:

"Sunrise over Fallujah" by Walter Dean Myers.

Summary:
The story follows a young Civil Affairs Unit soldier in the United States Army named Robin "Birdy" Perry and his unit through a time of ten days. They go through many trials and deaths. Perry does toughen up while trying to win the respect of his father who disapproved of him being in the Army.

Re-reading Battle Royale by Koushun Takami.

Summary:
Takes place in an alternate timeline and Japan is known as the Republic of Greater East Asia. A bunch of kids are abducted, given weapons and are told to go out into the island (Kyushu I think) and kill everybody else.

It is a really awesome read and makes me think.

Man I use to be a big reader. I love books and everything. But in this year and age they've come out with mostly crap to society. It's all so cliche, you've read it in other centuries before. The idea was way better in that century then in this century. I cannot seem to find a book that appeals to me these days.

But I will put down a recommendation of one of my many favorite books:

Name: The Light Fantastic second book of the Discworld series, I recommend the first one, but cannot seem to find it any more

Author: Terry Pratchett

Summary:
After the wizard Rincewind has fallen from the edge of the Discworld, the Octavo magic book saves his life and he lands back onto the world. Meanwhile, the wizards of Ankh-Morpork discover that the Discworld will soon be destroyed unless the eight spells of the Octavo are read: the most powerful spells in existence, one of which hides in Rincewind's head. Consequently, several orders of wizards try to capture Rincewind, led by Trymon, a former classmate of Rincewind's, who wishes to obtain the power of the spells for himself.

Name: The Elric Saga

Author: Michael Moorcock

Summary:
Sort of about a anti-hero king named Elric. Whom has to go onto a journey to save his world and his kingdom.
Sounds cliche, but trust me this is the best well written fantasy book you'll ever pick up. The uniqueness of it is amazing.


Another Book:

Name: Congo

Author: Micheal Crichton

Summary:
The novel starts with an abrupt end to an expedition sent by Earth Resource Technology Services Inc. in the dense rain forests of Congo when the team is attacked and killed by an unknown foe and all contact with them is lost.

I love reading, so currently I am reading a bunch of books. But I will give summaries of a couple of books:

"Dime Store Magic" by Kelley Armstrong (third book in the "Women of the Underworld" series). I actually finished this book, but I haven't bought the next one yet.
Summary:
Twenty-three year old Paige Winterbourne is a witch trying to put her life back together after the death of her mother (which happened in the previous book). She is now taking care of a 13 year old witch named Savannah, who is the daughter of a black witch (meaning she practices black magic). Because of this, many supernatural organizations want to get their hands on Savannah, even if it means kidnapping and murder. Since Paige's Coven doesn't support her, Paige has to protect Savannah on her own.

"Watchmen and Philosophy" by Mark D. White and William Irwin (both are editors; articles have individual authors).
Summary:
Basically, it is a philisophical look at the Watchmen and the characters within the graphic novel and looks at the ethical issues that were brought up in the book.

"The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy" by Luke Cuddy (again, he is an editor; the articles have invidual authors).
Summary:
A philosophical look at the Legend of Zelda series (I know; I am such a nerd). The book brings up things like, "Does Link have a will, or is it our will?", "Does the rules of logic apply to this game?", "Is the Legend of Zelda art?" and "Is Hyrule an ideal society?" Its a very interesting book.

"The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster" by Bobby Henderson
Summary:
Do I even need to explain what this book is about?

I fell in love with this Manga the moment that I picked it up. X.x;
In short-
Anna, is the daughter of a cult leader. She was raised to kill, and has her eye set on killing her good ol' Pop. She meets up with two other people, Yuri who "Killed" his mom (she actually committed Suicide) and Mitsuba, who is a tough guy who came home to his father and sister killed. And yeah. They go on crusades together. =3 I dun wanna spoil it too much. o.o;

Nah, not really. I skipped over everyone's posts. Rereading Hunters of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. Just finished rereading Count Zero by William Gibson.

You can't be sued for merely writing the name of someone's book without mentioning it's author. You'd need to be reprinting it or something.

I just finished reading "Gamer Girl" by Mari Mancusi
It's an OK book. Especially for girls that like anime, manga, and Video Games.

Summary:
A sixteen-year-old girl, named Maddie, (A manga loving artist) deals with a divorce between her mom and dad. Maddie, her mom, and her sister move into Maddie's grandmother's house where Maddie is forced to go to a new school full of "Aberzombies" and "Haters". The teens there give her a hard time by calling her "Freak Girl" and other names.
To get away from the whole mess, Maddie plays an online video game to cool herself down, as Allora. She discovers a whole new self and falls in love with another player online. While having a secret crush on a boy in real life.

I'm reading "Angry all the Time" by a guy named Effron. It's basically a psychology book for ppl who seek help with anger problems. It's a good read and really addresses a lot of things dealing with anger and life.

I just finished the newest Maxiumum Ride book, and I am now reading a fantasy book called "Un Lun Dun." It's suppose to be kind of like Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz, combined...it's cute so far :D

Summary: It is a compilation of the three books George Carlin wrote. They are Brain Droppings, Napalm and Silly Putty, and When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops. It talks about religion, language, euphemisms, and many other things wrong in society.

I am also reading Sunrise Over Fallujah. Great book. I loved the first, Fallen Angels, better, though.

Tokyo Underworld by Robert Whiting. American GI becomes underworld figure in post WWII Japan. So far it's been pretty interesting, and at times amusing. But then, I find the idea that 4000 lbs of spaghetti might vanish on the black market in a matter of hours to be humorous.
