One so far! No worries, we’ve got to start somewhere. And life is splendid, thanks for asking. (Your email is forthcoming, forgive the delay!)

sorry for the long absence, I just got a new job and its really taking a lot of time out of me but I'll post as soon as I can. I will also bring pies to everyone for being so understanding
Trusting a person is giving someone the ability to destroy you, but at the same time being confident the he/she won't.......
Project Chaos link below.
Lol yes it's vague, even here where there are only two seasons (the typhoon season and the scorching hot season. Sometimes, both occur in the same day). So when is said end of summer? I can also post my epilogue now and be completely done.
... We could also just close the thread now.
@sunnyside : Not quite, but close. One arc remains unfinished, and that will pretty much do it save for the epilogues that may follow. As you well know, it’s pretty bittersweet. As for the satisfying part, the whole thing has been awesome, though I lament the loss of two of the characters that I wanted Piers to interact with in the epilogue.
Pity Sab isn't around anymore
Although that just makes me curious about why this game didn't die. Really that's always been a point of interest for me. This game should have been dead and buried a bunch of times between GM abandonment, vanishing characters, mod heat, the forum borking, and multi month periods of zero activity. I figured this was due to all the OOC interactions and that extra chat forum you guys made and all, so you're kind of friends with an emotional investment that brings people back in to make a post every month or so.
But I'd be curious on your take of why Nightmare Hunt keeps rising from the dead.
I'm not sure how much you two have looked into the other games here on AF to realize how exceptional yours is. Aside from *knock on wood* this game and mine there really aren't any satisfying endings in this forum. Just page after page of interesting starts followed by crushed deams and disapointment. There have been three games that appear to have completed in the past, but that's not because they ended well. Rather they shifted into new sequal threads, and then those threads died the more typical miserable AF RPG deaths. And most of those games were freeform style games that wouldn't get approved under current RPG board rules.
So this game really stands out (hence why I lurk about).

Oh wow, thank you! I joined Animeforum early enough to see the Magic Mixer threads, and I thought it was a great RP for running for so long. I believe it's extremely difficult to have an RP up and stay alive. (I wonder how you do it?) Now that you list our history like that, I'm amazed Nightmare Hunt hasn't died yet either. Even I don't know what's become of that extra chat forum. You know Sab? She's great! And also doing great. I do miss many of the people who are gone, and I've tried getting them back (to no avail, obviously).
Why does Nightmare Hunt keep rising from the dead? Maybe it's our writing? Maybe it's our love for our and each others' characters? Maybe, like you said, it's our emotional investment in each other? Maybe it's the people? Maybe it's all that, and more? One thing I know is that I just really like being the bad guy. Even when it looks like I'm playing a 'good' character, I'm really a villain who loves leaving people unsettled. (Hahaha!) Something I learned: It's true when they say we have a bit of ourselves in our characters. So the real playing field becomes visible when you look past the other character and into the psyche of the person playing. Roleplaying is a dance with other writers.
Oh, to answer your question, I believe Nightmare Hunt keeps rising from the dead because for more than one resilient person, it is 1) meaningful, and 2) just too much fun.
Hey, we should do an RP together sometime! When NH is over?
Oh, and I only know Sab in their GM capacity. Not in the personal way many of you in this game seem to know each other. And thanks for your thoughts!
I'm not sure if this question has been asked yet but.....
Can you explain the nightmare thing better? Like what do you mean by "what the characters' nightmare is"? Can it have a specific appearance? What do you mean the character can "tame" their nightmare? Can they have some powers our special abilities? If so, what can our can't they have?
(sorry for all the questions.... I'm just curious)
Hello there, @desidoodle07
A Nightmare is a person's waking terror that walks the earth. It usually has one or a few supernatural powers. Hosts (the human) can call it at will to do their bidding, like terrifying blood-thirsty Pokemon. Guardians use their Nightmares to protect people, like Ash and his friends. Vagrants kill people, like Team Rocket, only worse. Ferals are more like people who own a Pokemon but don't know it, and it wreaks havoc without the knowledge of the Host.
Yes, a Nightmare may have a specific appearance. They can range from a black amorphous blob, to a suit of armor, to a teenage boy in a hoodie, to nurses with syringes for hair, to massive dogs and flying horses, to a fierce fire-whip-wielding woman from the Victorian era.
As for special abilities, we've had Nightmares with elemental powers, invisibility, reading minds, transforming looks, to controlling time. Their powers are limited to avoid god-moding and so that we can play fairly.
Hope that clears things up.
@Cross Avantgarde - Definitely. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Hope all is well over there, btw.
@Valkarma - Cheers to the EU winning the Peace Prize, mate! Hahaha~
Oh, thank you so much! That makes it more clearer.... Last question, however, can they change forms?
So, I just realized that I tried to post on the RP but I didn't see the note that said I had to wait till a Mod approved it so I did another one and then I found the note v.v so if anyone reads them both, choose one because the other was a mistake
@desidoodle07 : I didn’t see any of your posts so far in the RPG, OOC, or Sign Up threads. You’ll first want to post in the Sign Up thread to submit your character, at which time Sols, Valk, or myself will approve it; don’t worry, it’s certainly not a daunting process, and not nearly as difficult as I’ve made it sound.
ProTip: You’ll have to go to the “Thread Display Options” and select “Show threads from the last year” to see this thread; look for “Sign Up: Nightmare Hunt (A Supernatural/Horror RPG”). The last post in that thread was the 9th of July, 2012, if that helps. Submit your character there, and after it’s approved you can post in the RPG thread.
If you need any more help I’m glad to provide it.
Thank you, I signed up
