Mom kicks bickering kids out of car, gets arrested

Personally, I find it kinda funny, because alot of parents have threatened to do this exactly, but never actually do. She, however, stuck to her promise.

Although the common sense part of me says she was a tad irresponsible because something could have happened to the kids if they were left there any longer, not to mention the emotional effect it might have had on them.

The kids were aged 10 and 12.

to keep your promise is one thing, but to make a promise that can compromise your childs safety and keeping it is a different thing. people can teach their kids lessons without putting them in harms way.

i tell my son to stay away from the road beacause i dont want him to get hit by a car. however, i wouldnt let him play by the road and get hit by a car to teach him a lesson!

Call it sick but the line "The 12-year-old chased the car and got back in," made me laugh my butt off! I could picture the kid running like the road runner and grabbing the door handle and then jumping in like Indiana Jones. I do pity these kids though. The mother is not fit to be a parent and BTW, my mom threatened the same damned thing but never did it. This mother is just psychotic.

Kids that age walk home all the time, I was walking around bad neighborhoods when I was younger than that. The mom probably should have gone back to pick them up, but maybe her kid was a spoiled brat who deserved it.

The mother is lucky a pedophile didn't the daughter up.


They deserved it though. You should not be arguing in a car, it goes to show how immature they were and didn't ignore each other.

It depends on how long she left her other daughter there by herself. I think it was just a minor punishment that showed them not to fight with each other. Now if they were in another country, then things might've been worse for the two girls. I mean, if I ever argued with my siblings, I was threatened by my parents with a belt or a shoe, so these girls had it easy.

The mother did make a reckless decision, but it wasn't -that- bad. Not like they were in another state or something.

Why are we so protective of our children? Sure it was a bit irresopnsible of her to do that, but I agree with suzumi that this situation isn't as bad as many people are making it out to be. Most child abductions occur from family members, not strangers.

Heh, I have a friend whose father would always pull over when she and her brother were fighting in the car and say "We're not leaving here until one of you is bleeding, so get out and fight!". They were never sure if he was really serious, but that usually stopped the fight, at least for the moment.

That's just silly. Casually using profanity around your kids is more damaging to them in the long run than making them walk three miles home.

I agree with Heineke. The mother stuck to her guns and it taught the kids a lesson. It isn't like they are 3. My mom use to do that. She would drive off if I was being a bad kid. But she would always come back. She did it to scare me. And so I behaved better for the most part after that.
