Both are fairly solid for the genre. Clannad is the superior I think.

Just finished up Samurai Champloo, great pacing, nice character development, definitely recommend it for anybody who's into anachronistic Edo-period Samurai tales.
Now I'm on to Soul Eater, although I've only seen the first episode so far.

Infinite Stratos: pretty good series for it being new and only haveing 1 ep so far
Yumekui Merry: same as stated above
Cardfight!! Vanguard: very stupid anime so far in my opinion, its a cheap knock off of Yugioh and the other Trading Card Related anime
