YAY! Today was the Semi-Finals for Europe's favorite competition: Eurovision!

Eurovision is an international song competition held annually somewhere in Europe (hence the name). This year it's being held in Moscow. Each country (including those not in Europe) has the right to enter in one song to represent that country in an attempt to win the contest. this event is a huge deal for the whole continent (and quite possibly the world), drawing in more views each year than the Super Bowl and Academy Awards combined!

I'm rooting for Germany's Entry, Miss Kiss Kiss Bang by Alex Swings Oscar Sings! It's an amazing song imo. It made it to the finals, WOO! It's a jazzy song with a lot of swing influence. It's fun, fresh, and catchy!

It's rigged by geography. People generally vote for their neighboring countries (having similar cultures and tastes in music). Some countries have more favorable settings than other.

Anyways, the Eurovision Song Contest is generally made of suck and fail.. I never watch it, but it's sort of hard to escape since they carpet bomb you with crap from ESC on TV and on the radio for months afterward.

Europe has more than twice the population of the US, and the Superbowl isn't a big export outside of the US (the academy awards is a bigger export, but they don't make that much of a fuss about it). Anyways, the US should totally apply to join the ESC. They let Israel join (so not in Europe it's not even funny), so I don't see why the US shouldn't be able to parttake in it?

I've been watching clips of Eurovision different sites from the first couple up til France Gall's performance. It's interesting and all but not something I keep my eye on 24/7. Sadly, the song you posted, Cap, is very catchy, and it will be in my head for the rest of the day.

It's like a mixture of sounds that an infant whipped up on Dance eJay 1.0 , they're all the same, they're all tasteless, and they're all played in European discotheques for a week and then forgotten.
Also, that song is extremely cheesy; Michael Bublé could have performed it better, but even he sucks, and I think his genre should stay dead.
I haven't repaired my TV antenna since the wind blew it down, I removed my car's radio antenna because it spoiled all it's beauty, and Sheitan forbid such garbage pollutes my ears and mind while it's on the air.

Yes, I've heard the one Euro Dance song. It was alright the first time I heard it, but I'm amazed that people are willing to buy it over and over again from different artists, as if to collect the different album art it is published with. You think they'd have caught on by now.

On topic: I'm sorry, I don't play pokemon anymore*, so I've never heard of this "Eurovision".

The Euro-dance genre is FAR from dead. It may not be very popular in the United States, but I assure it is huge in Europe and some other places too. And as for your comment on it being "all the same...all tasteless", I could say the very same thing about mainstream rap, rock, and metal in this country. It seems like every rap song has the same basic background beat and every rapper spouts the same slurs in degenerate English (or more closely Ebonics) with rhymes that only make sense because he/she is not pronouncing the word in the standard way.

Basically, this all comes down to personal taste. Euro-dance happens to be one of my favorite styles of music. It's not your cup of tea, and I respect that.

And btw, no one said the song wasn't cheesy. I said it was fun, fresh, and catchy.
