What's Happening?

I'm one of those '30 a day' folks, so I s'pose I should make one of these.

Not real knowledgeable of anime, yet. My repertoire consists of Ghost in the Shell, Death Note, and Ghibli stuff. I wanna build on that, and since there's so much out there - here I am to hopefully pick up a thing or two.

No clue, really. I like the animation and the character interaction in Death Note, and I like the social commentary and the mind-screwery of Ghost in the Shell. I don't think I'll enjoy 'empty' animes which cater to the younger crowd - I like brain food, if that makes sense.

Big fan of Miyazaki - both his shorts and his feature films.

But I can't honestly say, with any certainty, what it is exactly that appeals to me. I guess I need to do my research around here to see what appeals to others in certain animes.

I do have a question, if anyone can answer it. I did notice that there's a large amount of younger posters here, which makes sense given the subject material. So what are the sub-forums around here that are more for adults and/or more . . . in-depth, knowledgeable discussion? Misc.? Or that Mature forum?
