I will say, though, that there is a difference between feeling pressured and being sucky. You see, almost all the time, I play a game ten times worse just because somebody is watching me or competing against me. I just... blegh... don't like it when I know somebody is keeping track of what I'm doing like that, it wreaks havoc on my nerves and I feel like I'm being judged the whole time. I guess I REALLY just feel like I have something to prove, especially if it's a guy watching because, well... I've met plenty of guys that don't think girls can play video games very well, or who always think they have the upper hand if they play against a girl. That's kind of lame of me, but I just... well, put simply: I hate other people.
I mind screw myself into suckiness. I think I'm a pretty good gamer especially with puzzle games (I <3 PUZZLES!), I'm just very good at tearing myself down.
That came out a bit more personal that I meant it to.
On a lighter note: I did beat my boyfriend at Guitar Hero, and he's a pretty avid gamer! w00t! Go me!
I do find it amusing, though, that I'll usually beat the crap out of guy on a fighting game just by button mashing. And they're all like "I worked for hours getting super perfect awesome move and you wouldn't let me use it." Well, yeah! I'm trying to beat you. Or the old classic. "You're cheating you're just hitting buttons, you're not even playing." Hey, buddy, if it works, it works, and if you're so great, shouldn't you be able to thwart my ignorant wins over you? Oh you can't? Well then I'm not cheating, you suck just as much as, if not more than me! And then I do some giggling and smirking while they cuss under their breath.
