By realistic I mena along the lines of GTO and School Rumble.
It doesn't have to be about school in fact I don't even care if it is.
Thanks in advance

If you're looking for something like School Rumble, (minus the "romance") try Hyakko or Manabi Strait. They have similar kinds of humor.
If you're looking for something for a bit of an older audience, try Rookies, a seinen sports/drama/comedy series.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."
thanks for the response.
I'll give those a try.
Also I'm not opposed to the romance I thought that's what made a lot of the school rumble humor so great.
Also do you know if those are dub or sub
I usually only watch dubbed anime.
thanks in advance
Rookies is a manga, and there is a dorama based on it.
Hyakko is a manga and an anime. The anime is currently only in Japan, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was licensed for distribution in the US soon.
Manabi Strait is an anime and available only in Japan. I doubt it would be licensed.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."
lucky star,shuffle,lovely complex
Genshiken - It's about a collage otaku club, and it's quite funny.
Welcome to the NHK - It's about a 22 year old and his struggles with social withdrawal.

Azumanga Daioh. It is realistic,.. excluding the few scenes where you see "Chiyo's Father" flying through the air.
I was also going to say "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time"..until I remembered that it has a lot of time-leaping in it.
That which is; is the truth.
i'd give Tenjo Tenge a good try.
Id agree with everyone here - ones Ive seen include hyakko (but thats only subbed so maybe not), lucky star (which I found a little slow pace wise, but enjoyed), and genshiken (the dub works well)
This is my favourite anime of its type by far. Its very gentle, and has kawaii coming out of its ears at times. But it also cracks me up without fail. The dub is ok, though the humour is quite culturally based, so maybe its worth getting hold of some of the translators notes if you are not overly familiar with some of the context. But even if you dont, this is so the thing.
On that day, all female personelle under my command will be required to wear... Tiny Miniskirts!!!
I'll add to the recommendation of Azumanga Daoih. Definitely a hilarious series, and a full adaptation of the manga, so you're not missing out by only watching the anime.
beck... maybe...
its the only anime i can think of thats anywhere near realistic, its somewhat comedic i think..
PS: i just now started watching Welcome to the NHK, its pretty much what your looking for...

Welcome to the NHK was one of my all-time favorites.
A couple more I would recommend are Toradora and Skip Beat, both of which just finished airing this winter, or Minami-ke which aired its third season this winter.
Toradora is a very moving slice-of-life romantic drama which deals with a small tempermental girl by the name of Taiga, whom students call "the Palmtop Tiger", and a cool-headed, independent and caring young man by the name of Ryuji, who befriends her and takes care of her, swearing to help her with her crush on another boy. This series has so many heart-warming, moving scenes, that every episode takes your breath away.
Skip Beat is about a young girl, Kyoko, who was betrayed by the pop singer whom she loved and took care of, Sho. In order to take her revenge she entered into the acting world to become a star in showbiz. She manages to get into the agency where Ren, the rival of her nemsis Sho works. She gains the favor of the both the president of the agency as well as the acting prodigy Ren, overcoming her obstacles through sheer strength of character.
Minami-ke is a slice-of-life comedy about the three Minami sisters who live on their own and are taken care of by the domestic older sister Haruka. The impulsive and lively middle sister Kana paints a stark constrast to the critical and analytical younger sister Chiaki. The three sisters and their friends draw an every warm and playful, comedic setting, where you can't help laughing at their every antic.

Try His and Her Circumstances or maybe Ouran High School Host Club.
