Economy Crisis Affecting You?

Hello,

It seems to be the world economy is in crisis. I heard it's worse than what it was after the second world war. or more like the great depression from 30's. Anyways, I'm not that expert at economy and just hope that new government will bring a better economy as time goes on. (and for the first time, I trust that the president will bring the change that we need)

Enough of me talking, has economy crisis somehow brought effect on your daily life either directly or indirectly?

For me, I'm starting to teach singing (been going through vocal training for years) but thinking of bringing it down the price.

It is effecting me, more than I had hoped against. I don't much care to talk about it, our government has been fools in managing the countries finances and has made us all look like idiots. We all suffer for their stupidity, I hope for a quick as possible recovery. The new president had better keep his word, and hopefully he has not shot off his big mouth and bit off more than he can chew.

The economy is nowhere near that bad. There are many similarities, but since all recessions and depressions are caused by pretty much the same thing there's bound to be.

And no it's not affecting me (since I'm only 16) or my family. Seriously nothing has changed for us at all.

Well it has made my life extremely difficult, when you are on your own it is far different. No job, no life, no home and no nothing. Survival is my thing, I am supremely stubborn and I always seem to bounce back though I have no idea how I ever managed a few things.

Seems like things are different depending on the circumstance. I have to agree with you Cannon that when it comes to living on your own it really is different. I JUST became independent? I guess and suddenly I am paying hydro, food, transportation, internet, rent etc. I am no longer a boy who used to hang out with friends, playing games, karaoke, drinking etc. Heck I used to tell my friends that I am a happy guy being able to drink with you guys laughing my *** off and have fun. Now, I no longer do that. Well I'm not THAT in a serious situation but I am trying my best to save some money while I can. Like my father said, 'save while you have, you can't even save when you realize that you have none'

It's not affecting me financially. But it is affecting me in a way because a lot of my favorite places to shop are closing down or going under. I'm just glad that Judy and Marilyn, (Sanrio ladies that I love), didn't go under. They just decided to close down before they ended up losing money.

I am however seeing stores close down like a trolled forum's threads. My favorite restaurant is closed, my one place to socialize gone, my school's fun gone. Still I'm trying my best to keep small places open by going there instead of a large retailer like Wal-Mart.

It's affecting me quite a bit actually.
Half the jobs around me aren't even hiring because of payroll costs.
I mean, I already have a job, I just was looking for a higher paying one.
That, and I've been there for almost 2 years, and It's just not worth it anymore.. haha. Gas prices are shooting up and down, which sucks for me, seeing as how I'm a driver, and since the gas is more expensive, the prices in grocery stores on goods have increased too.

I don't see any numbers dropping (on prices at least); don't see any contract papers bleeding; don't see any banks exploding or literally crashing down, therefore, and I can't see any crisis in this case, therefore, there shouldn't be any crisis.
On second thought, I do happen to have very less work to do lately, and am rumored to loose it soon, but I only see the bright side of it: all the free time I need. Time for some rest and relaxation.

My parents restaurant is running out of business...and I'm unemployed. I don't know if I should stop school for a while...since he tuition has raised too. My parents don't even have more than 5000 bucks in their account.

My dad's job was in jeapordy for a few months, but it's safe now. My mother's job hasn't had any dangers yet.

Nothing for us has changed much, we just go out to restaurants less than before.

Tough break - hope you can get through ok. For me (as a student), its mostly little things - just like where you are food prices have increased a bit (though they are going down), my bills have gone up a touch and some local shops in my home town closed (i guess this one is the worst, but its not any shops i was fond of or are particularly major). So i guess its hard times - i dread trying to find a job for about a year and a half from now, with fewer people hiring graduates - i hope people here escape the worst of that!

If there is anything good about this recession/depression is that it will separate the wheat from the chaff as far as useless companies producing products or workers go. I don't mean the mom and pop stores/restaurants, we need more of those.

What I am talking about are the car companies that didn't feel like listening to the consumers, and especially the auto workers themselves. The ones down in Windsor, Ontario, are a pack of greedy fools and getting what they deserve. $48 dollars an hour to do what, slide in some chairs and drill in a few bolts? A buddy of mine was a foreman at Ford for 13 years and despised them and their greedy union.

Well, I hope they enjoyed their overpay, too many sick and vacation days and two massages per month, cause for now on their only vacation day is going to be spent in the unemployment line.

Depression sucks, but it does have its way of shedding the parasites.

Yes, it really has.
Both my parents are self-employed, so because customers don't have as much money to spend as before, our businesses aren't doing too well.
Our family also does a lot in housing. It's a great buyer's market, but a horrible seller's market. We had to sell our land, worth a million dollars, for about 600000. Our houses are getting harder and harder to rent out these days.
So yeah, it's bad. : /

Well, I hope everything works out for you all!!! Restaurants that my friends and I used to visit often closed down too. I almost stopped going out for dinner or even lunch. I don't know how bad the economy situation could turn out to be. But I also have hope that it is the worse times where people try best and good things happen. Like...a real warrior hero borns out of in times of war not in times of peace right? So Good luck to everyone !!!

I believe this economic crisis is exaggerated. Now I make more than what I made 3 months ago, and have near 99% job security.
Only effect I got was that the CEO announced no pay raise this year. My pay is more than enough, so I'm not worried.



I can't say the same for my parents, but serves them right. I told them it was stupid to put their trust in the stock and real estate market, now their portfolio is worthless, while I make more money than both of them!

It effects everyone to some degree via expansionary easy money fiscal policy.

I was effected indirectly, just prices overall increasing.

I've been affected in small ways. It was really hard finding a job when I lost my last one, and I noticed that there are A LOT of people applying everywhere with no luck. Payroll is also a lot tighter with companies.

Prices on things have gone up, not as bad as I thought but it makes a difference.

My mom went bankrupt and had to leave her job, which really sucked. She will most likely lose the house this summer.

I think that's kind of an unfair statement. There are a lot of other people still sitting-pretty and unaffected but that doesn't change the fact that millions of other people have lost their jobs.

Yeah I agree with this, there's a lot of crooks that are getting what they deserve. I'm glad that maybe this will be a wake-up call for the greedy or people who take what they have for granted.
