But, if you enjoy tactical RPGs, then try Operation Darkness. Camera angles are not that good, but the game play itself if fun. Although I have yet to play them, but Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean: The Last Hope are all highly reviewed games.

Halo 3 is a must-buy, although you'll need XBOX live to make the most of it, as the campaign is pretty short.
Sonic Unleashed is a decent game. Compared to previous ones (which I deem mediocre, just because SEGA didn't really put much effort IMO), this one packs a punch. Sonic runs quickly, made me dizzy when I first saw someone playing the game.
Soul Caliber IV or Street Fighter IV if you have friends over often or if you bring your console over. Otherwise skip these.
call of duty 4 - if you like FPS games, you should get it, especially if you have live. i wouldnt bother so much with call of duty 5 though, i gave up because the servers for xbox live seemed to be dead when i played it.
ninja gaiden 2 - fun if excessively gorey
rock band/ rock band 2 - good games for playing with friends, if on the expensive side
the orange box - again if you like shooters get this. the story for half life 2 is amazing and very long, so worth the money
dead space - may have the same problem with scaring you as bioshock does
F.E.A.R.2 - its awesome, but if bioshock scares you, this will terrify you
skate/ skate 2 - fun games to play with friends

Gah, for how much I try to tell people it's better than Bioshock, I can't believe I forgot to mention Prey.
If Bioshock scared you, Prey probably will as well, but it does just about everything better except for graphics.

Is there a reason? You can always get Battlefield: Bad Company.
But if shooters aren't really your case, you can always get Halo Wars or Command & Conquer 3 or Red Alert 3.
