I'm pronouncing KawAi.

Well, you are pronouncing the word in Japanese no matter what but anyway...
"Kawaii" is pronounced "ka-wa-ii". The "ii" means it is a long vowel sound.
Note: The kanji for "kawaii" is 可愛い (pronounced "ka-wai-i). The hirigana and katakana can not reflect the same pronounciation as the kanji so the sounds are separated. Both versions sound the same.

I know about Japanes version, but what about English? I don't think it's posssible to avoid the accent in an when you're speaking English.
I don't mean to seem like I'm hating.. But this thread slightly smells of |Insert that anime related term|.
