If you were or your family to win 2 Billion Dollars and you would have 1 years to spend as much as you can before it gets locked in a banks safe and cant spend as much as you did before?

I would buy my own mansion, cay, transfer to the school i wanna go to, but a 360/ps3, custom made top-of-the-line computer, top-of-the-line hi speed internet connection, own game rm, cafiteria, theaters, library(of every manga/anime ever to come out), and etc.

Since we have to spend it, I can't say I'd use it for college because I'm still in middle school. I'd probably buy a bunch of stuff related to the Doors, buy tickets to the Fleetwood Mac concert, go to England, pay for tickets to bring my family from Mexico over here, buy more clothes, buy myself a new iPod since my current one has a broken screen, buy more iTunes songs, build a pool in our backyard, fix up our basement, buy my brothers, my dad, and my grandpa tickets to the Super Bowl, donate some of it to my school, buy myself a new bike, get Animal Crossing: City Folk, and donate whatever is left to charity. While many of you may think I can't do all of that with 2 billion dollars, I'm pretty sure I could do all of that with 1 million dollars alone.

The prices of gold tend to be rather stable. If anything, they increase. Gold is a finite resource, and we've mined a lot of it already. But the demand just keeps increasing (for industries and whatnot) so the price keeps rising. And you can't really manufacture artificial gold (well, you can but it's more expensive than natural gold, and also tainted with radioactive isotopes)

Gold prices are dropping at the moment you know... The copper market is picking up. Anyway the price of gold will rise no matter what, but right now you'd be an idiot to invest in gold if you want a short term gain. Everybody is selling their gold to those TV ads so the price is dropping.

I'd move to Japan, buy a normal house somewhere, start a seven-year college education, buy the nicest desktop AND laptop I can find out of custom parts, and spend EVERYTHING ELSE on wine, gold, and antiques, all of which would go in various safes around the world. As I need my money I'll sell the wine, and even half a billion dollars worth of wine takes a WHILE to sell off as a means of covering expenses, so the money continues going up in value regardless of economy. Then when the wine runs out I'll start trading out my antiques to continue supporting myself. Honestly, 2 billion dollars would last several lifetimes if you didn't indulge in so much. And I'd still plan to work like any other person.

Investing on just one thing isn't smart. You need to have two or three physical investments that aren't reliant on global economy, and at least two that are.
