You might like Bleach, it's action. Or for a mecha, try Neon Genesis Evangelion. I don't know what type of anime you actually like.

It all depends on your tastes - I think Fullmetal Alchemist and the R.O.D. TV series are good "starter" animes; then maybe try things like RahXephon and Azumanga Daioh if you like what you see...

Well I watch alot of anime and read alot of Manga, so if anyone wants to see a somewhat complete list of all the anime and manga that I've watched/read, then look at my blog. I haven't updated the list in a while cuz I'm sort of lazy!
It would help if you mentioned a genre or animees you've watched.
I'd highly recommend Code Geass and Fruits Basket.

Hmm, these suggestions are usually better in the mangas than the series. But anyways, it's worth watching and reading both. I'll no longer suggest Bleach and Naruto since they're already well known.
