Lets Run People Over Shall We?

I don't think getting closely run over about four times a month is normal. Especially for a person that is always careful when crossing.

The one that really scared me was when I was crossing and it had that pedestrian walk man sign that saids, "Walk" or something. And of course the drivers had to stop because of the red light. Well... that didn't happen. As I was walking and I'm finishing up crossing the road, and as other cars slow down... This... Toyota white civic looking car just passed me. My three fingers... lets just say, they're not normal color looking anymore after a few days.

The thing is, I'm sick of getting closely run over by cars and trucks. So tell me. What made these people think they can have the right of way when pedestrians are crossing?
Do they not see us? Or do they just ignore us?
I mean, when you take your drivers test and your permit test.... Do they not knock off points for closely running over people?

Ah. Made me realize that if I survived, would I do the same thing you would do? Or just be happy with him paying the fines and every damage he did to my bones? =/

Well, actually if the person seemed nice and everything I'd be like "K, just be careful" but if he/she was some idiot without a family talking on the phone or doing make up or something like I'd seize his/her assets. I mean the person can't be homeless....

Running people over, or just killing them, is what I call delayed abortion, not to be confused with reverse abortion, which is the medical condition where children abort their parents.

As a car driver myself I hate it when pedestrians cross the road! I hate it even more when they cross the road at walking pace, and expect me to slow down! If you don't want to be aborted, run!

If you don't have insurance, you'd better be extra careful not to run into any buildings or public property. It's coming out of your pocket and light poles are expensive. If you get hit and the guy can't pay, you could always take his bones to replace yours.

But, just cross at the light and make sure everyone's stopped before you step onto the street. Look both ways, etcetera; you can't trust drivers to stop.

I am a driver actually, but really.... I don't think like that. You are supposed to "walk" at a "cross walk" at a "walking pace". So I understand why it takes long for pedestrians....But...Don't they teach you the pace of walking in Elementary school? I'm pretty sure they do.

If you were doing it at a pedestrian crossing when it says "cross", then what the idiot did was illegal, and I'm fully on your side. If you were just running across a random point in the road when cars were clearly approaching at the right speed, then you are to blame. Driver could have been speeding, in which case you could have easily misjudged the risk. But if you expected vehicles to stop for you on a busy road without traffic lights, then what the hell were you doing in the first place?

I've been hit many (3) times. Never enough to die or break a bone, just enough to let my bike be crushed while I jump. In my area we have "Kewl drivers" that believe that they don't need to stop at a light.

I have been hit by a car at least 1000 times in my lifetime. It feels like everyday I walk out of my house and then boom. Of course, I don't get hit enough for it to be deadly, but I guess I'm a car magnet. It actually gets fun after awhile when I start playing the "who will hit me next" game.

lol if i should get hit by a vehicle i sure as hell don't want to get hit by a Toyota of any brands,Chrysler,Buick,Ford"by the way bankrupt", Nissan, Chevrolet and worst yet a Volks Wagon....i would probably be in the Hospital.jej..now being hit by a Mustang, Toe head, Prado, BMW" NEWEST MODEL", and Ferarri i can die with..lol...what they are expensive!!!!!

Oh yes, it was a nice one too. Every morning I get off the bus with more than 30 college students, and we must cross twice to get to the campus. We were crossing the streeting all together, and then all a sudden, a very speedy car was turning on the red and the driver was using the phone. The car was soooo close to kill all 30 of us, some people fell by dodging that car. It was a cool one but of course, if that car hit us, oh my...that driver must really pay!

And one time I was crossing on my green light, then a car ran on red light and it was about a couple inch away from me, and the driver sticked out his hand and flicked me off. Gosh I really wanted to show him an Asian's finger! ><;

Goshdarnit, I hate when that happens. People driving think that they're more important than people walking across the street.
I hate this the most in Europe and Asia. Since the traffic there is horrible, and it seems that they drive faster over there than the US, it's a wonder if someone can live through a day there.

I'd also like to point out Shanghai as a specific example. Since the cars, bicyclists, and motorcyclists there zoom by so fast, you have to constantly keep your ears and eyes open to so you can get out of their way as soon as possible. It's so stressful just to cross the street. And when you do cross, you have to like... fly to the other side.

I'd also like to point out Shanghai as a specific example. Since the cars, bicyclists, and motorcyclists there zoom by so fast, you have to constantly keep your ears and eyes open to so you can get out of their way as soon as possible. It's so stressful just to cross the street. And when you do cross, you have to like... fly to the other side.

China eh?! I went to Xi'an, at the middle China, the traffic is hella messy. It's like you're walking on your green, but the cars can go at the same time right in front of you. So there's no point of having traffic lights, it goes chaos anyway!

They're just stupid. When crossing streets, not even if you have priority and all,you can never be too careful. That's why i always look at the driver when i pass the street, to see how close he is to me and how fast he's driving,so i can speed up if needed...>.>

The same thing happens. I'm crossing the road and some guy decides to turn down the street while I'm there. I just walked on the crosswalk and it says cross. I have the right away.
Then the people in my neighborhood do California stops. And some of them as I am crossing the crosswalk rubbed their engines out me, wtf is your problem.
And the crosswalk I usually walk across to get my bus stop the crosswalk is a pretty long crosswalk, the longest I have ever walked on.


But there is any area where I just have to cross the road. Its a superbly busy street, but I have to get to the bus stop across the street. There is no crosswalk there, none.
No crosswalk so I have to put life and limb to catch that bus or I'll never get home.

2) Assume everyone is a ninja sent to kill you in a way that makes it look like an accident.
3) Make sure they're stopping before you run in front of them. Don't assume a stop light/sign means anything.
4) When in doubt, don't even bother.

I feel your pain I too have had many incidents involving cars almost running me over. For as you can see I live in NYC which is known for hit and runs lol ^^; but honestly I truley dont understands peoples problems when it comes to roads. The only advice i can give is look both ways before you cross so you dont have to rely on other peoples driving abilities inorder for you to cross the road k? ^_^

I remember when I was young almost got hit by a motorcycle, but it was slowing down anyways, but my parents still got mad @ me for not looking -.- So then, I always watch where I'm going. Lol my nanny this got pissed too xD since the driver were teenagers lolz and she's a chick so that just killed it for them. Lol.

China's roads are messy. Period. They have so many lanes and this lane crosses over to the other and that lane crosses over to the next... Double Yu Tee Eff.... My Mom's sister ran across that thing and I just slapped her as soon as we got to the other side safely... My mom said "Good for you." XD

Looks like I'm not the only one that had this experience. It's a good thing you dodged Aki.. O.o

I'll try these following tips:

-Look more than usual for both ways
-Eye contact for sure
-Run when needed or stop when needed.

As for 2000's fourth rule, I never risk crossing a busy area. >< So I'm going to ignore that rule.
