Default what kind of computer/internet connection do you have?

I recieved a new laptop as a getting into university gift. I'm not crazy about vista, but I have to admit it runs alot smoother :)

My old computer isn't the latest or greatest, but it's pretty decent for what I need to get done. What kind of computer do you have?

God only knows what keeps my p.c going. some of it's held in place by gaffa tape and the case is broken beyond repair. As for processers etc i haven't a clue. It's old though. My internet connection is good old (slow) dial up. yep Suffolk is that backward.

You're just trying to pimp out your new gadgets! I'm on to you...

I have a dell something or other, it works fantastically. I have cable internet that gets speed limited when I go over my bandwidth. In fact, I am speed limited right now, it should be going around 56k. I'll do a speed test later when I'm not limited.

Macbook (2ghz and 2 gb ram) and DSL with a wireless connection.

The connection is fast, never wait more than a second for things to load.

And that's about as much as I know. The macbook works flawlessly and that's all I really care about.

I just chucked out my spastic eMachines T2482 a week ago and replaced it with a refurbished tower that my brother and I now share. It's a Micron PC ClientPro tower of some sort.
    - XP Professional SP3 (32-bit) (planning on installing Ubuntu soon and dual booting, just for the novelty)
    - Intel Pentium 4 (more or less at 3GHz)
    - 512MB RAM (I really need to upgrade it, probably to around 2.5 to 3.5GB given enough money)
    - one Pioneer dual layer DVD-R/W drive
    - one 20GB and one 80GB Western Digital hard drives, and one old 3.2GB Samsung hard drive that I scavenged from a dead desktop
    - TWO internal floppy drives! Wowie-zowie! I've a B-drive!
    - old scavenged SmartLink 56Kb/s modem
    - It's got a pretty standard ethernet port/controller, but I rarely use it.
    - I scavenged the eMachine's monitor, and my scale says it's 16.25" diagonal.
All the drives are IDE/PATA/something-like-that, 'cause that's what I had in the eMachines and I didn't want to pay for new drives. I had to put a PCI IDE contrller card in to fit all my crap.
I can use Opera 9.x, Firefox 3.x, IE 7, Safari 3.x or the absurd little browser built into IBM's Lotus Symphony office suite depending on what I'm doing and whether or not a site tends to act up with one or another. I've given up on Google Chrome for the time being.
I currently connect using NetZero dial-up, just because it's the cheapest ISP here. I reached 56K speeds once and only once. It's usually around 44K to 48K.
It has the unusual trait of refusing to boot Windows if any USB devices of any kind except for mice and keyboards are plugged in when it powers on. I've not experienced such a thing with any other computer I've used to date.

So, my new computer could destroy my old one by looking at it, but it still gets teased by the big PCs because it walks kinda funny, it picks carcasses clean for nourishment and it talks slowly.

Yup. I managed to overclock it to 3.6 GHz on air, stable, for gaming but it gets too loud for everyday use so I switch bios profiles whenever playing games.

Nothing mindblowing. It's been good to me though for multimedia, casual gaming and all that. I might bump up a few things this Christmas as well.

    Connection wise:

Oh right, I run XP for the sake of speed. Vista offers nothing useful to me besides looking prettier. I have the upgrade CD from 2 years ago and it's just collecting dust.
