The good old days vs. The Present vs. The Future

Was it better in the good old days, or is it better now? Or will it be better in the future?

Please try to make a balanced judgment, not based entirely on your Asperger's syndrome telling you that the past had no anime, and the future has more anime than the present.


I think the future can be good, assuming we manage to deal with this whole global warming thing before it gets terribly out of hand. The present is decent, but certainly has it's issues, largely stemming from a large quantity of ignoramuses with the capability of independent thought of the average sheep. Some parts of the past were good, but they also had their issues. It certainly wasn't as simple as we like to think it was.

I cannot comment on the past before that of the year 1990, but one of my deepest interests lies within the past and the different cultures of the past, notably the Victorian era and the early nineteenth century.

I like the present as it is all I know of, although I have a passion for learning about the past.

I like the present more than the past, simpily because I was not alive in the past o.o so it is better to be alive, but the past would of been fun, I don't know how fun because I never lived during then, I was born in the 1993 so I can't say much about it. The future will be cool, with all the new inventions.

Yes they do, but.. as you see I am only in the 10th grade so I am up to Theodore Roosevelt, so I don't know much, that's why.

Can we speak of the early 2000's if that was our good old days?I prefered the old, just because school standards were so much lower than they are now.I now have to read about 10 chapters a night, were as in the good old days I could read one half of a chapter and that was it.

The only thing that I have deduced which I enjoy about the past (at least in America) was how people didn't run around as much copulating without commitment (That is, the way I've heard from the elders and such, when people decided they'd be with someone they seemed more interested in staying. )

Now I'm not saying there weren't any adulterers back then, but the values behind commitment and whatnot seemed much more embraced then they do now. The way it seems now, it wouldn't be too big of a surprise to me if the world shifted to something like 'Brave New World'.

I know there was a time in man's history where 11-14 years of age was well enough for having children, but this age isn't that time- and yet I hear about 3rd graders getting it on. ._.;;

But perhaps I'm just ranting on about something that no one cares about any more. Still, that's my opinion.

Other then that, I'd have to say that right now is good enough for me. I can't really tell what the future will bring, but if it brings us a better environment as well as an easier way to fare in the world, then that's the future for me. I'd be glad to get my own home when I turn 24 and NOT have to pay it off over twelve years. xD

I like the past because of it's history but wouldn't say it is better than our present time. The present could be better but at least we're not in (yet) in a depression. So, I wont complain. As for the future... I don't foresee any good.

Actually, that is largely revisionism. The puritan movement was a reaction to rampant copulation at an extent that makes the '60s look prude. There were hookers at every street corner, and it was largely more socially acceptable than it is today.

...well now....just simply......."What long divided is united and what long united is divided".....for long, this fact has been seen in the past...in the present ,most of the people of the world are under unification considering common things between us all... however, the nature of human cannot be changed which is thirst for more power, more glory and more violence simply putting.....so ultimately, the world shall under go many choatic situation in the future and then there will be further division in some point of the future ....so the Present is the best time for one to live in peace as nothing specific is happening..........

I would have liked to live in like the 40's or something. Everything seemed so much simpler. No Internet, no cell phones, outrageously expensive HD TVs. If you wanted to talk to people, you went and talked to them. I'm so sick of all the online/text fights that I get stuck in. People are too chickencrap to yell at me to my face. Back then you didn't have any other options. And you didn't have to worry as much about adults flipping out if you went on a date. The times seemed more innocent as opposed to now.

I'm not saying it didn't suck whatwith the whole depression and depression rebound. I just mean that there wasn't a whole lot of the crap there is now. Simplicity, as it was then, is something that seems like an easier way to live.

I believe that every era got it own bad and good part. Like during old days, there is no high tech technology, TV only got few channels but life is more relaxed. Now, full of high tech things, but crime rate is also soar up. There is no safety walking at place you consider safe 10 years ago.
