no no no no no, you are never too old for anime! Only too old for certain types of anime....i.e., 50yr old still watching pokemon....would be kind of creepy.

i do not see anything wrong with a fifty-year old watching POKE'MON. people of any age can happen to like or dislike an anime's premise. my mother once took care of an elderly woman in an old age home that always watched INU-YASHA when it was in it's CN run...

I do not think age matters, and here's why; I believe that if something has captured one's heart and imagination as much as anime, manga, or cartoons and comics in general has for some, then it shouldn't matter how old one is, because that is now a part of that person, is has become a defining characteristic of the human being.
This is not to say that it is impossible to grow out of liking something, (I don't find playing with action figures that entertaining anymore), because people's tastes do change over the years. The point is that to give up something you love for the sake of someone else's opinion is bull, and one should decide for themselves.
Don't worry about the world going to hell, because there's nothing you can do about it anyway. Just sit back, and enjoy the ride...
Like people, anime and manga mature. I don't think anyone can be too old for it. There are more mature anime and manga out there for the older type. Then there are the more "younger" set anime and manga for the younger type.
People decide themselves wether or not they're too old or young for anime and manga. It's not the rest of the public's choice.

There is no age limit when it comes to anime. Because there is always anime out there for different kinds of people.
Who knows when you get older your taste may change and then there will be more older and more mature anime.

Honestly, age doesn't matter. Remember when you used to watch anime and you tried to tell someone about it but nobody cared? Well, that was what you were unique for. Now, there is a lot more people watching anime and finally you are able to discuss with others your thoughts and what not. There is no age to it and maybe you can pass it on to other generations that will grow with it as well.

Although I do think adults should stick to more adultish-anime (not necessarily hentai of course...) rather than sticking to Pokemon and Hamtaro. e.e But eh, I don't really think adults do watch Pokemon and the like. xD

True. I guess its all about whatever floats your boat. I only said that because pokemon is obviously a very young-child targeted series. One of the few series out there not targeted for all ages. It's just that Pokemon to me is like Barney....so it just wouldn't look right in my eyes :P

I don't think it should matter. If you think about it, there are a lot of mature themes in some animes and mangas. Granted, it's an interest you'd probably not want to be forth-coming with in mixed company because of the stigma that goes along with it. I don't know about other places, but around here there's an idea that anime fans are perverted, immature, subversive, etc. Or worse that we all want to be Japanese and haven't come to terms with it.
Anyway, the point: No matter what the hobby you're going to end up having to defend it to someone, whether they think it's not age appropriate or just strange.

Me? I believe some anime like Sailor Moon and Pokemon you can grow out of and become too old for because of personal taste.
When it comes to public acceptance, I don't think it'd be a good idea to be reading manga and watching anime at 80. People would simply find that weird.

And, yes, I said that you can still pursue it. I just based my choice on the general acceptance of liking anime at 70+ in the country I live in, America.

To be fair who's gonna notice the 80 year old watching the anime porn? After 80 what do you have to lose? Are the 13-18 year old girls gonna not wanna hit on you less. If anything, 80 is the best years of your life to watch it.
Never! I don't think there is any age that you can't watch anime or read manga at whatsoever. I started to watch anime at a young age and think it's awesome. I don't care if your 80 and still watch anime, in fact if you are, I salute you! I want to read manga at 80. Seriously
