Voting!

It's time for voting! I've decided that as long as there are enough entries for it, there will be a first, second, and third place winner, as decided through voting. Out of the remaining there will also be a "moderator's pick." As I write very little poetry myself and have less knowledge in the area, the moderator pick will be selected by Princess Ai, as she is the former forum moderator. In the case of this first contest I received a total of four entries, meaning the fourth place contestant will receive the "Ai's pick" by default.

Prizes will be awarded as follows:
First Place: 100,000 points, a reading on Ai's Corner, and possible inclusion in the IntuitionGFX monthly magazine
Second Place: 50,000 points
Third Place: 25,000 points
Moderator's/Ai's Pick: 10,000 points and a reading on Ai's Corner

Voting for this contest will follow the same format at that of the just-completed fiction contest. Please follow these directions:

Send me a PM with the entry you think deserves first place, the entry you think deserves second place, and the entry you think deserves third place (so you are nominating three separate entries). Also include a comment as to why you have selected that entry for each place. You'll want to think about all factors that make up good writing while you're reading the entries. Your pick for first place should be the one you think is ultimately the best-written in all regards.

The PM you send me should look something like this:

Third Place: Entry __ (Comment on the entry)

Entry # 1


Heart Prism Change

When a single heart beats
Alone, under the red sky
A scarlet September notice,
Brings it's hidden fears alive

From what I once believed in
To what chaos I see now,
Such a long drawn introspection
So little the Gods will allow

I see the image stirring
Life is a broader view,
Because of it's never ending flux
It sends itself to death so new

And again it arises
Reborn into a new state
With sighs of passion re-aligned
The Goddess will create

A like world in constant motion
Again, as though life is a routine
It's lifeblood being crystal ocean
Refilling life's great canteen

So much is inside so little
Yet we cannot see,
The strings that connect us all
It's how we break at the seams

And like the world in a cycle
We return to our old lands
Whether we originate from the forest
Or the golden desert sands

Like the flowers or the stone
Our hearts are ever changing,
Like the moon and the sun
Our hearts are ever shifting,
Like a feather or a thorn
Such change is undulating-
It's capricious charm is a prism

Untitled

the ticking of the clock
the clicking of the lock
doors are falling
time is stalling

if this is new, then i dont want it
if this is how it's going to be,
then i'm afraid of it

take this away
the changes arent becoming
such a pretty face,
downcasted shadows

forget it, just forget it
let me go,
i'm not ready for this

Entry # 3

Odysseus

I was a poor boy a skin dappled farmer
A boy who was walking in the cool breeze of grain
And then came the wind of the city and armor
Now I am bloodied with flesh and with pain

With the sad scent of sand in the air all around me
I long for the taste of the flowers of spring
And the song of the mortars and songs of my father
Twist inside me while I dance on a string

But why in the world is there a call that’s worth dying
And where is the silence in the gunfire fray
I watch as the people pass onwards all crying
Bearing their husbands to the ground where they lay

I hear as some curse me and I try not to sigh
As the sun it is judging like a great fi’ry eye
And if there was a way to escape from this prison
Of sand and of sadness and run and I’d fly

But when I return to my garden of awnings
And talk to my father who is now passing on
He will say he don’t know me then jump the veil yawning
And I’ll bury him deep before walking on

For my old town ain’t a home now for no one
Save the dreams of a child that are now all but gone
And I’ll head to the city, the steel mausoleum
And I’ll rent myself out to the local museum

A girl who’s trying too hard
And doesn’t know who she should be?
Do you see a frightened girl?

I look
