PROLOGUE; a plan set in motion.
Deep space, year 3015 a.a. (after ascension)
In some cultures balance is the most essential and domineering of principles. Humanity and nature, space and time, right and wrong, the sensitive scale that overseers our fate is not intended to be tipped in any one direction.. and yet.. It is believed that if the balance of the cosmos is disrupted, great calamity would befall the universe. On this fateful day, such an event occured..
A full scale starship hovered in the furthest outreaches of space, only the light from stars lightyears away could witness what was occurring here. Two human forms glided closer to the tiny object, a small, intensely glowing crystal, not much larger then a melon. One of the space suited figures reached out to touch the object, and it cracked, a small shard breaking loose and soaring away through space. After being scolded the figure then used a mechanical hand to capture the small crystal in order to bring it aboard the starship.
A dark sillhouetted figure standing in the starship's bridge smirked to himself as he witnessed the object being retrieved, speaking aloud to the surrounding darkness. "The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light. The stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. They will see.. coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory..." The words flowed, quietly and foreboding, from his lips. "They will see..."

HISTORY; the world of Dues Ex Machina.
This story takes place in the distant future, during the year of 3033 a.a. The earth as we know it ceases to exist, the planet is merely a shadow of a memory. It is nearly desolate after the wars that plagued it centuries ago, and is now not much more then a historical exhibit, heavily policed and only accessed by those with special permissions. Humanity instead exhists on man-made colonies throughout the solar system. There are hundreds that orbit the sun, each with their own habitats and ways of living. (think a final fantasy-esque environment, the technology is very advanced, however some aspects of culture remain primitive)
All of these colonies are ruled under the ISSU; the Inner Solar System United. The ISSU's democratic government is a very large group of representatives of each colony, being presided by a council of seven who have powers much like a president. The ISSU's 'fist of power' is the millitary organization known as STARR. STARR is the most powerful organization ever created, it's millitary advancements are legendary, and it's space exploration ventures have paved ways for new discovery.
But an event 18 years ago rocked the ISSU and altered their way of existence. The arrival of the Corrupted. The Corrupted are "demons" who terrorize the galaxy. They are violent, primitive creatures, able to travel freely through space and arrive without warning. Where the creatures originate from or what they are exactly, no one knows for certain. The ISSU has now declared itself in a state of war, a war being waged against the Corrupted. STARR agents police the ISSU in an effort to keep them from destroying colonies, and STARR's research division works tirelessly to find ways to stop them and find out their origins. STARR's first real breakthrough in this battle comes in the newly engineered class S weapon, the first weapon of it's kind, METATRON.

STORY; what the rpg entails.
Our story begins when STARR intercepts information pertaining to an object known as "The Armageddon Core". It's location and power is a mystery, although based on the information it may possibly be tied to the existance of the Corrupted. The newly appointed Captain of Team 17, Ryo Miyamoto, is assigned a team of agents to carry out the mission of investigating what the Armageddon core is, who wants it, and what for. The newest STARR creation, the weapon METATRON, is to accompany them on this mission for it's first field test.
The Renegades have also obtained this information, and also aim to stop whomever the mystery group is from obtaining the Armageddon Core. Along with that the Renegades intend to keep whatever the Armageddon Core is out of STARR's hands too, in order to prevent the millitary organization from having any more power.
The rp begins with Ryo meeting most of his team for the first time. Little do they know that they're now involved in an intricate conspiracy.. which side is the right one? And just what roles will each of the characters play in the coming revelation..?

The Renegades are a group of outcasts founded 16 years ago by the late Advant Gavanti, in response to an unkown incident. The Renegades police the ISSU much like STARR does, protecting the people, but they're vigilantes who attack STARR members in addition to attacking the Corrupted. They're often called 'space pirates', because they're not permitted to use their ships or ride their Arcs, and some dabble in other illegal activity. Because of this they're always in a tug of war against STARR. The Renegades have a firm belief that STARR's existence and motives aren't as honorable as they appear..
LOGOS, a major weapon's manufacturer, is a mysterious organization that seems to have it's hand in everything. They are very 'behind the scenes', but appear to have a strong pull of power. The owner of LOGOS is a mysterious man known as Xaviel Illuminati. His four associates are rumoured to be very powerful, but not much is known about them either. LOGOS appears nearly everywhere where suspicious activity is involved, seeming to be much more then a weapon's manufacturer.. so then just what is their true purpose..?
Arcs; Armored Replicant Combat Suits, are the mecha battle suits that are used for heavy combat purposes, most belonging to the class C weapons category (that does not apply to customized Arcs). Arcs can be used in space effectively and are often used as an alternative to ship battle. Arcs are standard issue to members of STARR, and are widely manufactured for that purpose. An Arc is an extension of it's human counterpart, "linking" with the human's mind. This allows the human to render commands through thought process, and also feel vibrations or trauma from battle. The higher grade the arc, and the higher level the pilot, the more fluid and effective the "link", but also the most dangerous, and thus only truly experienced fighters choose these upgrades. Many Arcs are fitted with Customations, sometimes called C-Arcs, and ranging but not limited to different weapons, frames, or cpus. Often the customizations of an Arc raises it's weapons class, some Arcs even rivaling lower scale battleships.
The Corrupted have many names. Some believe them to be aliens, some demons, and some ghosts, and others even believe them to be angels sent to enact righteous judgement on humanity. There are many theories that surround the suspicious arrival of these mysterious creatures. The Corrupted come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with different species and abilities. When Corrupted are in direct contact with humans, they are able to drain their lifeforce and mutate. This does not work with all humans however, some humans are unnaffected by this ability of the Corrupted. This phenomenon is, as is many of the details of the Corrupted, a mystery.
Stigma is a very rare phenomenon that has been occurring in some humans recently in the past hundred years. Stigma is different in everyone and in some instances similiar. Many of the abilities stem from telekinisis and ability to intereact with certain elements, and also may involve unnaturally heightened sense or abilities. Many who posess Stigma are sought after by STARR and often become members of the millitary organization.
The Outbreak Incident occurred seven years ago on the Pleroma colony. A virus was released into the public through unknown means in order to "forcibly" awaken Stigma within the citizens of Pleroma. The virus however was not yet perfected, and only had a minimal fraction of success. On that night it spread through the Pleroma colony and infected thousands, some dying instantly, although it mutated within many, causing extreme, uncontrollable violence. The night erupted in chaos, the infected massacring eachother. Few survivors infected with virus did indeed have a Stigma awakening, forcibly unlocking their inhuman abilities as intended. Many of these humans that posessed Stigma were eventually recruited into STARR because of the usefullness of their abilities in combat.
The Final Wars are the last battles carried out on Earth over 500 years ago before the agree to ceasefire and the Ascension. Centuries ago it seemed these wars would destroy Earth and all of mankind, and nearly did. However, to the surprise of many, an agreement was made between all of the warring countries in order to save humanities' existence. During that time resources on Earth ran low, and countries began the Final Wars in order to gain more territory and more resources to support their people. It was an all out battle for survival. With the heightened technology, the war rocked the planet, nearly destroying it entirely. Finally a ceasefire was made in order to save what was left of the sickly Earth, and the plan for the Ascension was hatched; man made colonies would be created in order to give each country it's own share of properties, and there would no longer be inhabitants living on Earth. This was the only way to save the planet, to remove what was causing it's destruction; humans. After the Ascension, more and more colonies were created, the ISSU was developed, and the Earth began to slowly heal.

Personality: Meta's behaviour patterns are governed by three rules; logic, probability, and completion of missions. Because of this it's response to situations is often deemed cold and unsentimental by humans. However this sort of personality structure allows it to be able to take orders without hesitation and to make completely unbiased decisions. It has also been noted that Meta shows signs of curiousity, and asks alot of questions that may appear strange to humans.
Strengths: Has a one of a kind ability, named "Ultima". METATRON can summon it's own weapons at will, so long as it has downloaded enough information to create the weapon. Meta also has inhuman strength, at full power able to lift over sixty tons. It's fighting style is unique and comprises of parts of some of the greatest martial arts styles. Meta is also highly flexible and dextrous, and can move at hyperspeeds. Can also 'communicate' with other forms of technology, an ability used to hack or relay information.
Weaknesses: Has been engineered with every intent to have no personality or physical defects.

Personality: Ryo has always been a leader, even as a child. He is very chivalrious and brave, and is known for having a strong sense of doing what is right. He always appears to have a very calm, cool and collected demeanor about him, but he's not unknown to have a good laugh, especially with those he's comfortable around. Though for all of his perfect qualities, it seems as if there is always a note of sadness in his eyes, caused from something traumatic in his past that he feels guilty for.
Strengths: Ryo has been noted as being "the greatest mecha pilot STARR has to offer" by his comrades and superiors. His natural skill with his ARCs was ultimately what nominated him for his Captain position, and earned him the title "Crimson Lightning". He is also well-learned in martial arts, and with a variety of weapons, though he prefers his set of pistols.
Weaknesses: Ryo is normally well collected, however when things go out of control he tends to blame himself, usually when it's not his fault at all. At times he will put himself in danger if it means to save a comrade's life or meet a goal. He often puts the world on his shoulders. At times Ryo will have anxiety attacks when dealing with situations reminiscent of his past, causing him to hesitate.
History: Growing up, Ryo was a foster child on the loose on the Pleroma colony. Having been shipped home to home, he grew up on the streets and was often out running with other mischevious kids rather then being confined in the home of his adoptive parents. Ryo had lost his own parents during the infamous Stigma Incident, and having been there for the entire ordeal, it was very traumatic for him. Ryo hardly ever mentions his parents or his life before being orphaned, and so details are yet to be known. During his early teen years, Ryo was quickly getting noticed for his fighting talent, but even so, his life was going nowhere fast. After getting into some small-time trouble, Ryo had a chance meeting that changed his life. A meeting with a man named Onyx. After that he was recruited to STAAR, and started working for them.
Stigma: Ryo was one of the rare survivors of the Stigma incident, and thus posesses Stigma. He has the ablity to 'see' beyond what any normal human could. His eyes can focus extremely far away, can see in dark, and can even see things seconds before they happen, but only a few seconds. In a way it is like a sixth sense, and used to that effect to alert him of danger or a changing in surroundings.
Weapons: He uses two unique pulse pistols, and his Arcs, Setsunakuteii.
Arcs: [image] Ryo uses a custom-built ARC, which he has named Setsunakuteii. Ryo's customized Arcs was given to him 2 years ago by one of STARR's Generals, Onyx. He has since modified it himself, and calls it Setsunakuteii. The Setsunakuteii is nearly unrivaled on the combat field with Ryo as it's pilot. It's major function is it's Over-Drive and, later in the story, it's Soul-Drive. These boosting modes allow the Setsunakuteii to move at hyperspeeds and unlock unlimited energy, however the linking between pilot and mecha at this point is so extreme, that if the Arcs was to sustain any harmful damage Ryo would in effect die.

Personality: Samyaza is burns with a chill fire, nursing old scars and letting them consume him. He always stands apart and bits the hands of all who would reach out for him. He keeps mostly to himself and casts disparaging comments upon all he deems ‘maggots’, ‘fools’ and ‘peons’. In battle, he cares not for the lives of enemy and comrades alike, willingly sacrificing those placed under his command. What wounds he keeps inside are unclear but whatever they are they leave him with a burning desire to surpass all others and a particular individual who has cast a shadow of pain over his entire life.
He is, however, incredibly intelligence, quickly able to determine the end of any string of events. Possessing a wealth of intellectual and combat experience, there are few situations where he doesn’t have some amount of expertise.

The test subject, 66G, joined the Grigori as most do ***data lost***.
After undergoing the process of selection, 66G was converted into the biological CPU it is today. Its was placed on a regimen of several drugs, including grail, that increased his physical bodies response and were controlled by the Fruit born in its brain. As a result, its major neuro-pathways are swollen. As with all specimans it developed an addiction to the substances that such that without them its body would undergo a complete shutdown.
After the process it was placed in the second level of the Grigori training program. After several months it was deemed suitable, due to its quick reasoning and ability to deal with abstract situations, for the role of Tactical Grigori.
It has since taken part in many missions, both alone and with several of the other Grigori. Most Grigori have difficulty getting along with others and the newly dubbed ‘Samyaza’. While, the longest serving (though not technically eldest) Grigori ‘Samyaza’ is by no means the leader. It possesses some authority over the others as the tactician however, it is in constant conflict with the Recon and Assault Grigori. However, the Defensive Grigori often takes its side.
We have noticed, increased hostility from Samyaza after returning from Mission 76-2 and have noticed psychological occilations typically associated with planning though we are currently unaware of what these may correspond.
Stigma: the Fruit (its effects are not clear however all Grigori possess it and it is attached to high levels of intelligence, rapid thinking, and heterocromia )
Weapons: Lance of Longinus and the Crucifix Rail Rifle.
Arcs: FS-666 Nephilim. FS model ARCs are different from their counterparts and were developed specifically for the Grigori project. The main difference is that an FS model lacks a CPU and thus linking does not occur in the traditional sense. Commands are not given to a CPU which than translates the command from something like ‘move left arm’ to ‘move such and such gears with X newtons of force to Y degree while putting Z newtons of counter force to prevent drift. Instead, such calculations are handled by the Grigori themselves. While this may seem like a disadvantage it allows the Grigori to perform complicated maneuvers and bizarre convolutions that would be almost impossible if it were translated by a CPU. In addition the lack of CPU link makes the process far less dangerous than for main stream ARCs. *********** FS-666 was designed specifically with Tactical Grigori in mind. Designed to rapidly respond to changing conditions it possesses the ability to deal with any situation though not necessarily the most effective at any one. Its main armament is made possible only by having a Grigori-based CPU. The main rail gun can bend its projectile along paths defined by a quadratic formula given by the main CPU (i.e. the grigori). This means it can bend in ways that will hit areas it would not otherwise be able to and which tradition CPU/user interfaces just can’t. It allows wields a scythe and to shoulder mounted shielding units.

Personality: Never the party-pooper of the group Yoshiro lives life to the fullest. That includes constant womanizing and some alchoholic beverages added to the mix. Yoshiro is very emotional. He's a hothead, prone to resorting to violence when things don't go his way. He's also a bit of a whiner and is the first to complain. Though, despite his exterior, he's got a heart of gold and often shows his compassionate side, the first one willing to help those in need.
Strengths: Yoshiro's reckless, take-risk piloting style has made him top-notch in the field. He often leaves pursuers of his battleship baffled, and left eating stardust. Besides his talent at the helm, Yoshiro is also a talented martial artist, using his kickboxing-type technique against his enemies. Yoshiro prefers to say what he wants with his fists rather then using weaponry.
Weaknesses: Yoshiro's weakness for women is a major concern for all those around him. He also uses violence as an answer for all things, and this gets him into trouble. He's not very good at long range combat either, and doesn't like to use guns or the like, his aim's not that great.
History: Yoshiro was the grandson of Advant Gavanti, the Founder of the Renegades. Yoshiro lived with his father and mother in an abusive lifestyle for years on the Pleroma colony (he was childhood friends with Ryo while living there) before moving with his grandfather on Aestas. His grandfather taught him everything about piloting and fighting. Yoshiro and his grandfather traveled space together until he passed away recently, giving the reigns of the Renegades to Yoshiro. Yoshiro humbly passed along the offer, saying that he just wanted to be free to travel space. Still, he holds a high ranking position in the Renegades, and has his own battleship.
Stigma: None. Although he was on Pleroma during the Stigma Incident, he was not one of those infected.
Weapons: The metal gauntlets on his hands. Yoshiro prefers to fight hand to hand, mainly because of his bad aim although he wouldn't admit it.
Arcs: [image] Yoshiro has a standard power Arcs that he calls Daredevil. Daredevil is an overly large mech that's major skill is it's power, over speed and agility. It's primary weapon is it's King's Gauntlet, an oversized first on the mecha's right arm which has incredible crushing power.

Personality: Xaviel is a mysterious man. He always seems to know more then he ever tells. He appears to delight in manipulating people and events, and happens to be good at both. He is described as being very charismatic, and has also been described by others as having a cruel and sadistic side.
Strengths: Able to get what he wants from most people. His weapon's producing company, LOGOS, holds great power and is very profitable. Xaviel appears to have many mysterious abilities, and also has access to all sorts of weapons. He isn't a heavy weapon's user however, and prefers to have others do his fighting for him. Still, his Arcs piloting skills are rumored to be the best there is.
Weaknesses: Xaviel always counts on getting what he wants, and things going his way. He does not believe that anyone would ever oppose his reasoning, and there lies his greatest weakness. He also relies on his subordinates to carry out things for him.
History: Xaviel's past is shrouded in mystery, however he apparently seems to know alot about historic events from a first-person perspective...
Stigma: It is unknown whether Xaviel possesses Stigma.
Weapons: Does not appear to use any weapons.

Personality: Sophie is very proper, and is always coaching others on their manners. She's fairly intelligent, most often found reading. Her favorite subject is history. Sophie cannot handle seeing others in pain or suffering, and she becomes emotional in response.
Strengths: Sophie has mastered the old art of fencing, having come from a noble household. She's not the strongest but has a fierce sense of determination to help protect others, not wanting to see anyone get hurt, most of the time even her enemies. She also has alot of handy history information. Sophie is a trained medic as well.
Weaknesses: Inflicting harm on others bothers her, even when it is necessary. She also has a bad habit of always correcting others behaviours, and sometimes that gets people upset with her.
History: Sophie once had a twin sister, Marie, but she was killed during an attack by the Corrupted over 5 years ago. Her and her sister were very close. Growing up Sophie would play the piano, and her sister would sing. After Marie died, Sophie stopped playing. Because of her twin's death, Sophie and her parents rarely speak to one another, they feel too much grief even just looking at her, her face alone a reminder of their dead daughter. Sophie herself still suffers the grief of her lost twin, a sadness she carries alone.
Stigma: Does not have Stigma.
Weapons: A fencing sword. She's also a talented medic.
Arcs: Pilots the Harmonus, a standard Arcs that specializes in defense. It's major weapon is it's Mirror Wall, a forcefield able to reflect energy attacks. [image]

Personality: Described as rude and unfriendly, Viktor isn't a people person, and it takes some dedication to get past his rough exterior. When someone does though they will find that he isn't as bad as he pretends to be. He posesses his own strange honor code, and always believes in keeping promises made. Viktor often plays the teacher to everyone else, offering wise advice on dealing with situations.
Strengths: Viktor is very wise when it comes to battle, having been in STARR for years. He knows what it is like to lead, and to be a part of a team. His fighting style is mastered and focuses around his lance, making him a very strong opponent.
Weaknesses: Viktor is seclusive and doesn't communicate his feelings to others. He is the first one to decide against a battle that seems even the slightest bit unwinnable, often preferring to walk away instead. At times this is a strength for him, but also a weakness.
History: Viktor isn't very open about his past, however he has a deep rooted hatred for Xaviel, the Founder of LOGOS. The two of them seem to know eachother well. It was also revealed that he once had a wife and daughter, but they are no longer living. He doesn't like to talk about them much, obviously never having gotten over their deaths.
Stigma: Does not have Stigma.
Weapons: A massive lance which he keeps tied to his back.
Arcs: A dark blue standard STARR Arcs which he calls Captain. It is outfitted with energy weapons and shields. Viktor doesn't prefer to use his Arcs often however, he says he "doesn't like linking with Arcs", and doesn't explain why that is.

She strongly believes in the bonds of friendship and will do anything for her friends.
Strengths: Casey is an excellent engineer, and usually handles the repairs on Yoshiro's ship. But her skill with machinery doesn't stop at ships, she's also good with technology, busying herself with repairing, hacking, and inventing things. Many of these talents stem from the fact that she is a "technopath".
Weaknesses: Casey is often causing trouble for everyone with her 'invincible' attitude, often drawing danger or unintentionally putting everyone and herself in danger. She also has a big mouth and has trouble keeping secrets.
History: Casey is from a rich family on Aestas colony. Her parents wanted her to take up dance as a child, but Casey rebelled and ended up running away. She quickly joined the Renegades, seeing that they could give her the opportunity to develop her abilities and live freely the way she would like. She is a part of Yoshiro's crew and is very close to him, looking up to him like an older brother. Even though they fight all the time.
Stigma: Has technopathy, the ability to communicate commands with advanced technology. Her technopathy isn't that highly developed, and she can only command technology with a cpu. The highest technology she has been able to command is Class C, but with difficulties. She normally uses this ability for hacking and stealing information, or relaying information (like false cordinates or the like) which has proved very useful.
Weapons: Casey carries a pulse pistol and has fair skill with it. She mostly relies on the others in her group however and her technopath skills.
Arcs: Does not pilot an Arcs.

Personality: Sumi is in it to win it, her ambitions rule her actions. It is her goal to climb the ladder of STARR, and reach the ranks of her late father, Tetsuya Takahashi. She is cold and ruthless to anyone that stands in the way of her goals. She always follows the rules and believes in STARR faithfully.
Strengths: Sumi fights with two laser embedded katanas. She is very skilled with her blades. She also carries a pulse pistol handy. Sumi's attitude drives her to always do her best to reach her goals.
Weaknesses: Sumi is naive and believes in STARR blindly. She also cannot accept defeat or failure, and doesn't like recieving help from others.
History: Sumi is the daughter of the legendary Tetsuya Takahashi, one of the Generals of STARR. Tetsuya Takahashi was revered by all, but Sumi herself rarely got to spend any time with her father. As a child this troubled her deeply and she sought to amend it by becoming 'a child he could be proud of'. She planned to do this by becoming a General in STARR herself, on an equal level with her father. Unfortunately he passed away five years ago. Still, his passing only made her wish to achieve her goal even more, and now she will let nothing stand in her way.
Stigma: Does not have Stigma.
Weapons: Two katanas embedded with lasered edges, capable of cutting through almost anything. She also has a standard issue Arcs, Punisher.
Arcs: Punisher, Sumi's Arcs, is a standard issue Arcs to STARR personnel. It carries a multitude of energy based weapons, Sumi has also requested that it be outfitted with a special modification to suit her fighting style, two laser embedded blades.

Religious views may also be an issue, not saying that I'm gonna be getting preachy, actually it's going to be the complete oppossite... so if your religion is extremely important to you and that, and you think this RP might offend you, it might not be a good idea to join.
