As I slaved away in the library, trying to work out why my fly ratios were beyond ridiculous, I found myself thinking I would much rather be frolicking outside in the sunshine, maybe doing a little bit of photography. A desire that increased as I saw the happy faces of the people outside, who didn't have to stress over progeny that indicated the same two traits were linked and unlinked on the one locus. (You'd think the chi-squared analysis would have helped, but no it did not).

What lame, mundane or otherwise taxing thing did you have to slave through, and what would you prefer to have been doing at the time?
