"This horrifying five-foot weapon has been recovered by police during a knife amnesty.

The three-handled sword with a blade at either end, designed to be swung like a paddle, shocked officers who took custody of it.

They are using it to publicise a five-week amnesty during which they hope around 30,000 weapons will be handed in, mainly from youngsters.

A spokesman for police in Gloucester, where it was surrendered, said: "It is a particularly nasty weapon that can, literally, take someone's head off. We are very glad it is off the streets and we want more weapons handed in."

The blade is believed to be a stainless-steel copy of a Klingon weapon used in the science fiction series Star Trek. "It's an extremely dangerous weapon," said a martial arts expert last night."

While I think that blade is totally 'wicked sick' (UT2004 Reference). It's a shame that the relatively harmless nerdy Trekkies who would only use the weapon in a domestic dispute with their mother are turning in their blades. I think those crazy people who created the 'wasp knife' (Google it) oughta surrender their wacky stuff too. Still, that is one helluva blade.

I can imagine how many of them weapons are already in this country, owned by harmless Trekkies. I am thankful that yobsters do not watch Star Trek, otherwise they would be carrying those things around the back streets of London instead of knuckle-dusters.

It's not just here (UK) either. I spent a recent summer in Cyprus and in the local shops they were stocking smaller butterfly knives and such literally on the shelves where any kid could pick it up. Yet thats off the topic.

If I had that I would totally never give it up, hell I own a sword which is on my wall for show and I would never give that up.

I've heard about the knife problem in UK.. what I am wondering about that sword/blade type thing, was it an ornament or?

I have 2 Samurai swords on my Mantle, 1 Small on Big. Big one is Extremely sharp.. small one is Blunt.

They are both Ornaments I would never use them as a weapon... although always dreamed about hacking up a robber lol.. (cough)

On the weapon war, I think that the UK really should have a minimum sentence on those caught carrying a knife. Not having one is ridiculous.
