Sterotyping and Labels

i find these two things that are the exact same thing REALLY annoying.
Such as "their mexican so they must eat tacos" or "their german so they must hate jews", "their black, so they must always cause trouble, sell drugs, talk ghetto and go to jail alot" "their white so they must be rich. snobby. and racist"

and labeling a girl "a lesbian" just because she hasnt had a boyfriend is annoying, *has happened to me before*

also i see this alot, your "emo" if you cut yourself and cry alot....
a normal person can do those things....

who all is fed up with labels? or do you think we should keep them?

i say down with labels and sterotyping.

M-hm, labelling gets really annoying I know. The one I hate the most is: I wear a lot of black, therefore I'm emo and must cut myself and hate the world. I cant just like the clothes style and music and ya know... not be depressed and all that? -_-

I have to agree with you, labelling is really stupid. However, its not something that can be helped, people are always gonna judge others this way, no matter what we do.

Edit: OH! One more that applies to me: I'm blonde so I must be a total ditz. I happen to be a natural blonde but thats one of the reasons I dyed mine xD

for around here it did...
at the end of 2005 and beginning of 2006 it blew up and everyone was"emo" but not for the true meaning, only for the style...

but i think "emo" has always been here since the 2000's

Emo is a little dumb, to put it bluntly. The guys that wear the extra tight pants really kind of irks me... And they scare me. Lol. But from what I can tell, most of them are just scene, not even real emos or goths. Which is a bit sad...

I don't mind stereotyping. It's just the predetermined stereotyping like you were born black so you must use ebonics. I don't think stereotyping is totally bad. It gives people a taste of what you're identity.

I met this classmate that dressed goth but to my surprise she was quite an up beat person who just likes the style. Never judge a book by it's cover is overrated. It's just waay too tempting to judge a book by it's cover even if it's unintentional.

Sterotypes are a way for people to feel secure, I think they hurt people more.

Actually, it is more of a culture or fashion statement now more than it is anything else. The original term for "Emo" was just what one would call an individual whom was really emotional, because some people are really emotional about everything. Then these young youths caught on to the word and its meaning and found it 'cool' to be really emotional and non-caring about surrounding events. As years progressed various nations were flooded with young teenagers and their "I don't care, I'm emo" attitude. The Culture just caught onto a lot of the younger generation of school students..a bit like Pokemon cards.

I have a friend, well friends sister, who is very emotional but despises being called emo. when someone does call her emo she blows up in their face. Its a little amusing to watch sometimes though...

I think my avatar tells you my opinion about stereotypes and labeling. I dislike it and it's annoying to be labeled, as I've been for years. But I don't care, I learned to ignore stupid throws like "satanist", "freak" etc. for being something like a goth. People are stupid and we just have to learn to deal with them >.<
