Are you a Traditional or Religious person??

As the title states, are you a traditonal person?? Do you follow hundreds and thousands of years of tradition and religion, or are you not traditional or religious??

For me, I'm not traditional nor an I in any way, religious. I respect both, but I just don't practice either of them. And I'm certainly not saying that I've made my own tradition or religion, I just don't like being bound by them. I know, for such a young man to defy centuries of tradition and religion must be unheard of to the more serious practitioners, but...oh well. But, how did you think religion or tradition start?? Of course, by one person's ideas that other ppl followed.

I fully respect other people believes and views, whether they are traditional or religious, but for me, I am neither =/

I'm right there with you. I'll respect people's religion and tradition, just I'm not traditional or religious. Never have been traditional or religious. I do things my way (or my mom's way), just however it goes.

Umm the question is a tad flawed since tradition is an important element of religion. The way I take what you are saying is about people who are religious and will not approve of things that are accepted in 2008 due to their religious views.

Most of my real life friends are Catholic and all have a deep understanding of their religion and we often talk about controversial issues. Yet all of them are quite modern and do not have to socialise with people from their religous subset. I think this is the perfect way to go about your religious views. They are yours alone and you should respect what others think.

i think MomijiKong pretty much nailed it. I am not religious, nor am i traditional, in a religious sense. tho, some christian traditions are good to follow for me, based on their original intentions, such as Christmas. i may not be religious but the rest of my family is and i love to share in that time of year with them.

but just because you are religious, that doesn't mean you have to submit to every standard and tradition, nor that you have to be some kind of stereotypical, closed-off Amish-esque hide away. :P

It's interesting how truth (whatever that may be) is easily distorted into crazy fables, and are regarded as truth. People like to wig out over athiest, but people usually need a reason to believe in something. Some people who have gone through tragedies may feel that they don't have a reason to believe in God, and that's their perrogative.

atheism is like a religion in and of itself, and it certainly has it's hypocrites. i prefer to be called agnostic, because the belief or disbelief of god has no bearing on my life. i choose not to care and throw a fit, either way, anymore. atheist chose to believe in nothing, but if you look at it (they can end up defending this belief in nothing, or just saying it's logical and to believe anything alternative is stupid, just like religious people can say about believing in what they believe), that's still believing.

I am a follower of Christianity. I am not gung ho christian. I just occasionally read the bible and try my best to not sin. Just a casual christian and all.

I guess I believe in god. I don't really believe that a church is the best place for me to investigate him. In my experience, every church I've been to has been counter-intuitive and anti-logical in their interpretations of the bible. Which is not to say they all are x_x. Just the three or four I've been to.

Really, I haven't made up my mind. And I am beginning to believe that if no one makes me, I never will.

My family is on my mother's side are very devout Buddhists, and as such I observe many of the traditions myself. I keep a little Buddha statue and a prayer book in a corner of my room.

You are so, so right....

Anyway, my family does not have a lot of traditions, so am not a traditional person. There have been some thing that have been handed down but we have changed them quite a bit. A lot of them are not even Christian in origin, despite most (if not all) of my family is Christian. We will have the traditional dinners during the holidays but thats about it.

I am a religious person, meaning that I am a devout follower of my religion. However, I do not act those hardcore Christians. In fact, as some of you might already know, I am not even Christian. I am Wiccan and I do practice witchcraft and they are big part of my life. I still celebrate Christmas and Easter with my family as these two holidays couldn't be more Pagan than they already are!

However, Wicca has a "live and let live" philosophy. I do not hate Christians (yes, I am very aware of the witch hunts) and I respect their, and everyone else's, beliefs. I do not go around saying that Wicca is the best religion in the world, that it is the only right religion and those who are not Wiccan are going to have bad things happen to them. This is called proselytizing and this is something that is looked down upon. I have no problem with Christians as long as they do not infringe upon my beliefs.
