Has anyone here ever had their wisdom teeth removed? How was the experience?
I heard it hurts A LOT.
Lol. I'm 21 and my wisdom teeth aren't out yet. My doctor said I'd have to remove them once they're out. That was 3-4 years ago. Should I start worrying about this?
I have removed 2 wisdom teeth.
The operation went fairly quick and it didn't really hurt because of the painkilling shots, actually getting the shots is what I remember as a little painful since they were done under my teeth or something.
I was on painkillers for a few days then I was all good again.
15 and got one out. They shouldn't have though.I drink alot of milk.It hurts only to drinkith the H20.
I get mine removed at the end of the month. Not look foreward to getting all my wisdom teeth taken out. I just don't like how my doctor kept on giving the details of cutting the skin and the cutting each tooth into 4 sections to easily remove them. Then he was like with the bottom teeth, there is a chance of having some nerve damage in the lip for a couple of days or permanent. And then for the upper teeth, there is a chance of having holes that would connect the roof of the mouth to the nasal cavity. The hole would fill in but still, creeps the crap out of me thinking about it.
Most people have them removed in their late teens. I will probably end up having mine removed but atm there is room for them so my dentist wants to play the waiting game.
Getting them out won't hurt of course but I believe they advise you to take a week off.
My wisdom teeth never grew. They never existed it was like POOF and bam...they were gone. O.o
Wish I could experience getting rid of them, but I'm just that lucky to not. ;3
Darn.
I lost, again.

Eh. The experience is pretty bad from what I hear. My mom had them removed because they rotted or something. Apparently a dentist couldn't do it, only a specialist.
Well you have 2 options. You can have the dentist use locals and have them removed. This is the preferred way as you have a quicker recovery time but is the most unpleasant method. Alternative you can go to hospital and under general have them removed.
Well you are 17. I only started having them come out at the start of this year. Now all are about 3/4 out. They tend to push out in a week and then stop for several months before continuing.
Eee.. I hate it because for me it was sooo bloody.. They put me to sleep, though, but after I woke up, I don't remember the first hour I woke up from the sleep, my mom said I was acting happy, then I was doing jumping jacks which is weird, lol. But I was bleeding so much, and I could eat nothing but pudding, which was good, too. : D

Had two removed and it was amazingly simple, painless and easy. Took only about 30 minutes. They injected a needle into three spots inside my mouth .. far worse than what it sounds as the needle was only as painful as a quick pinch.
Once the freezing agent took place, they literally yanked the teeth out. Put something in there to loosen it up, then cut some connections, then pretty much pulled them right now. What a freaking weird sensation, it's hard to describe.
I went back to work 45 minutes later, and once the pain wore off, I hardly felt a thing. They did their job pretty cleanly I must say.
Then I dread when and If they do come in ^^....
I had a Molar on the right bottom back side of my mouth removed since it was sideways and not doing anything, and it had a cyst around it.. Not to mention a Nerve if Cut would cause lose of Feeling in Bottom right side of my Jaw...
So went under the knife for that... asleep thank god... Everything went good They Missed the Nerve and got the tooth. Sucks for me though I'm nearly Immune to Pain killers... The T3 and Numming was only thing that gave me Pain relief in my entire life o.o
All In all Extremely Painful... Sure hope If wisdom teeth need to go Doesn't hurt that like..
Know that feeling.. I was on Protein Shakes and Milk Shakes for a Week since I couldn't open my mouth more then a Cm.. Managed to get some Cup of Noodles down after that.
My wisdom teeth have been growing in fine. My mother had her wisdom teeth removed and based on her stories, I am very glad!

Mine haven't grown in.
But why do they get removed anyway?

Wisdom teeth do not start growing until you are about 16 years old, well after you get you last permanent tooth. Because of this, when the wisdom teeth come in, they can become impacted and can create problems for your other teeth. Most people will have these teeth removed before they cause any problems. Others do no have them removed unless they have become a problem. I still have mine.

Mine haven't come up yet, but I had 4 teeth removed before I got my braces, so there's plenty of room for them.

back from the dead...
15 and I had two taken out. Both were on the bottom jaw.
It didn't hurt at all. The only thing that you feel is the anesthesia they put in. After that it's nothing. It was actually pretty boring. I had to sit there for the entire morning.
My case: the two wisdom teeth were just beginning to grow and were pushing my other teeth forward so one of my canines(?) was jutting forward and out. The problem was, the wisdom teeth weren't even out of the gum yet.
What the doc had to do was fill me with anesthesia, cut open my gums in the back area, pull up the growing tooth a little bit then use a tiny hammer-like thing to break it into pieces and take it out.
Whole process for the two teeth took about 6 or so hours with 1 hour in between to take a break.
