I was posting on the internet relationship thread and read some responses that really annoyed me. Some saying you can't love someone who you don't know "for real". Well isn't it like saying you can't love God because you've never met him? We can say romantic love is when we feel happy and loved with the person we are with. But can't you feel that with your friends? Love can take on many forms and shapes but when it does we become confused with what love really is. Scientifically love is just a chemical reaction which leads humans to mate.

What is love? Does it really exisit?

idk, I personally Think Long distance relation ships can work as long as both of the people share similar views and values. So when and if they finally do meet there won't be any hidden surprises.

What do scientists know... Scientifically love does not exist, since we are scientifically animals and animals hold (still scientifically ) no emotions. The instinctive need to mate would be desire, not love.

You have to define love in your own words. Everyone has a different view of it.

To me, love isn't just that happy butterfly-in-stomach feeling you get. Love is based on trust and commitment. Love is when there is only one can of food left, and you give it to the other person.

Well to be honest it is to every individual unique. Every person has a different interpretation of that feeling/word.

I myself think that when people say it was love at first sight, what they really mean it must have been lust at first sight. Because to me you cannot love someone dead on the minute you met them...its that outta shell we unfortunately look at before everything else. What I am trying to say is love grows over time, those moments you share with that special person, you cherish them forever, never wanting to let go....growing old together....that is love to me, and still be thinking I haven't wasted my life with that person....pretty much the opposite...That special someone has added to every little gd/great moment in my life and I'll never be alone.

Love is fragile though.....there is the kind hearted that forgive more mistakes than others, well to me the most important rule is...to not take that someone for granted because life is unpredictable and lifes are way to precious to be toyed with.

Being in love is one of the most fullfilling feelings I have experienced and If u wish for this to be forever though it is alotta work but in the end if it really means that much to you you will be happy in the end

Aww man, you beat me to it. On a serious note, love is an emotion that takes many forms depending on different people. Therefore many people might have different experiances with love than others. That's at least what I believe.

EDIT: Also I'd like to add love is like oxygen. You get too much you get too high, not enough and you're gonna die. Love get you high.

Love? Well, an emotion of course, but not just a "silly" emotion. Its a connection between two souls. Its giving someone your heart and trusting them not to break it. Sure, all you people who don't believe in that kind of stuff, you can judge all you want. Love is something stronger than anything else. And anyone who rags on love, has apparently, never really experienced themselves.
Its something so much more than physical love.
A relationship is giving someone permission to witness your life, as you will theirs. You're sharing moments with them, making memories.
Love can be as complex or simple as you make it.
And the people who are hardest to love are usually the ones who need it most.
So that's just my opinion. Learn to open your mind to things that are beyond scientific recognition.
