Anybody agree: L died, the whole anime died with him

Yeah, Near was good.
But due to the fact Near wasn't introduced until half the show, and the Anime was based mostly based on L and Light, who the hell expected L to ACTUALLY die? Seriously, probably injured. Or an (Near[Hehe, I said Near]-Death Situation), I mean when L died. I was like, Yeah he's gonna wake up in a minute. 20 minutes. In a episode, in TWO episodes..I swore that guy didn't die.

i cried and i cant watch deathnote without crying. i loved L alot, and i almost always half expect him to jump out sometimes, but he never does.

well, I really hated the fact that L dies, but if he didn't and he solved the case in 13 days then it would just be the whole . . . "Good guy always wins" sorta thing. I mean sure in the end the good guy won, but still. If L had just won that way and not died then the ending would be completely different. I mean, he wins just because he waits for 13 days. that pretty much sucks as an ending. When he dies then a whole new chapter opens up and then the ending is more . . . thought out. I mean, sure Near isn't like L but he still solved the case in a way that led to gaining people's attention. . . I know it doesn't make sense. oh well. I still like the ending.

Besides, L still was right, "Justice will prevail."

As I've said in my blog rants over and over again...Fangirls suck. They ruin everything.

I didn't mind the storyline where L dies, Mello comes into the picture and gets knocked off, Near comes in and helps to stop Light.

I get such a kick out of people who claim not to like the Death Note series after only watching a few episodes.

And to clarify, Light is anything but a lonely kid. He is actually incredibly popular. Had he been a depressed, emo smart kid, then it would have been typical. However, Light had everything going for him, which makes it not so.

Death Note has one of the best stories I've seen in an anime. If you don't like it, I recommend you go watch Inuyasha or maybe Naruto. Maybe something a little more linear and a little less cerebral is more your cup of tea.

You are so right Sagat. Even thought L died, Light was still around, and he didn't get off the hook. There was also Near and Mallo who were just as smart as L. But I do have to somewhat a agree with people that L was really awesome. (I though he was a human that acted like a shinigami)

I don't think it sucked at all. L was great and I really liked him, but it was original to have such a character die halfway through the series. I never saw it coming. I kept expecting it to be some kind of plot on his part to trick Light but nope, he was dead.

The series needed to show Light fully transforming into Kira. As long as he was fighting L that would not happen. I personally enjoyed seeing his progression into more and more of a psychopath with a God complex once most of his obstacles were out of the way. I felt the deleted scene with Light laughing maniacally at L's grave really highlighted this.

I totally stopped watching Death note after that! Without L it was just not that interesting anymore. Also Light was just plain stupid by killing him so i just did not want to look at his evil face anymore!

The relationship between Light and L made the series so interesting. Without L, that dynamic is gone, and unfortunately their whole tug of war which was a main focal point of the story is now gone. So I understand why some people don't like Deathnote without L. I personally have only read the manga, and haven't read so far as to even get to L's death, so I can't offer my personal opinion on this matter as of yet.

I have to agree completely. I love the Death Note series and I completely support and love L but for the sake of the series he did have to die. I honestly don't think the series would have been so great if L continued to live because he'd have found proof that Light was Kira and that would have ended the series. The whole transformation into Kira is what really made the series. The fight with L was simply the beginning.
