"If you want to kill me, despise me, hate me, and live in an unsightly way... Run, and cling to life, and then some day, when you have the same eyes as I do, come before me." Uchiha Itachi
"Those in the ninja world who break the rules and regulations are called filth, but those who don't care about their companions... are even lower than filth." Uchiha Obito

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I do believe that alchemy has some origins.
When you're an assassin, you'll kill one man...
When your a conqueror, you'll kill millions...
But when your a god...
You'll kill every single thing...

Alchemy is quite real but not in the sense FMA portrays it...

yeah its very different.

Yeah it used to exist but not in the way FMA shows it. It's supposed to have its earliest origins in Ancient Greece as a theory of four elements (Earth, Air, Water, Fire).
Anyway, here's Alchemy at Wikipedia (yeah yeah it's an open wiki but it's still a good source of info if it's cited properly).

Well i have had read that alchemy had existed in the medieval ages, it was use under the four elements and their forms, that means for example water is liquid, solid, cold and hot, they also used astrology but like in the Anime they tried to found the philopher's stone to pronlong life and cure all illness, something like the saint Grial, I guess

Alchemy is quite real. I believe its purpose was to transmute stone or whatnot into gold.

They're dictionary entries, yes, but they do have some nice concise info.

Alchemy is like science but in the olden days
not exactly real.

It's considered real, but it can't be proven.Millenium Earl is somewhat based on Count of St. Germain and is said to be traveling through time as we speak. That's what they said in my study skills class, so quote my teacher.

I have never watched this series but... I can just tell you that Alchemy was the predecessor of today's chemistry.
The alchemists tried through various methods to obtain gold out of other metals [ which we know today isn't possible ] and to gain a never-ending life. Rumours have had it that a few have achieved this, like for example Nicolas Flamel [it was said that he got the Philospher's Stone that granted him eternal life and the ability to forge gold , (he's mentioned in Harry Potter and the DaVinci Code for all the enthusiasts!) ].
Also the alchemists were organized in schools, mostly basing on the origin of each, such as the indian, japanese ones etc etc etc.
