how people act toward other people online

Okay, so i don't know if some one put this up already but how do you feel like how some one picks on you if you spell bad or your a little slower then the rest i mean tonight i got on and saw some people pick on some others because they are "n00bs" and well just wanted to know you're feelings on it. Mine personally i think its wrong because yes we all have our opinion on this kinda stuff and well we should not force out opinions on people, right i mean it's not right, or so i think. so explain how you feel about it

Well, I have never picked on anyone online, but I'm not really surprised. I don't really think that this is wrong or anything, since people do it all of the time in real life. I also don't think this is wrong, since there are people out on the internet who are stupid.

I personally don't care about how others act towards me on the internet. It's just, well..the internet. It's not like they can really do something to me, except for a virus or some bad words. o.O;


I don't take the internet too seriously. And for people that do, I feel that they should really lighten up..

Unfortunately, yeah, that happens in real life all the time. But that doesn't make it right. As for stupid people on the Internet, you can't affect those in real life, let alone on the webs. Again, I must disagree and say that it's pointless.

It's one thing if one warns someone about his/her spelling or whatever that makes him/her a noob, but I don't think people should pick on each other for that.

It's one thing if you're just sitting there not doing anything and someone starts taunting you, but when you're being treated like a sane individual of at least average intelligence in what's supposed to be a mostly serious discussion and you behave like an idiot, I will treat you as one. So will many others here.

I can tell if people are at least trying to keep up, and will probably cut you some slack if you seem nice enough. We are, however, not your family, your friends, or your little cuddle pity circle here. This is a forum made up of several individuals. We all have our own damn problems, and while we all have our own opinions most of us are open to considering opinions different from ours and having a rational discussion about it. You will probably be treated like crap if you can't do the same.

EDIT: Okay, maybe some of us are your friends, but I was talking about the forum and indeed the internet as a whole.

Well, picking on other people online for no good reason or, for any reason at all, is pretty stupid. I pretty much ignore those types of people online, because they are too afraid to pick on people in real life and figure that they are safe to do it behind a computer screen.

If someone trys anything on me I tend to just either;
ignore them (If I dislike them), or I just agree with them kindly to make it seem pointless for them to argue back. Or I throw random comments that don't make sense at them and confuse them.

Most cases I just ignore them though, as they obviously have no life or no real or online friends, as they are trying to annoy people across the interwebs. People like this are often classed as "Attention Seekers". So don't give them what they want, because then it just gives them a reason to laugh at you.

Put simply; Ignore the saddos and get on with whatever you are doing. This way what they are doing just does not work and makes them look stupid, and also makes all their actions seem pointless and sad.

Hey, there is a difference between being "stupid" and being a "n00b".

Being a n00b is a natural part of using the internet, it is your initiation stage on all websites. The first time you visit, you don't know the inner workings of the site, that has nothing to do with your intelligence, because you've never been there before. Calling someone a n00b is an inherited right of all veterans of a website, and is not usually used in a malicious manner.


Being stupid on the internet, is either you being stupid in real life or much more often the case; you are new to using the internet, which makes you seem stupid. The internet is fast, organized, and cruel. Anything that slows it down it destined to be scorned. Most people eventually get up to pace though.


However, there are some black corners of the internet that exist purely to spread evil. I won't discuss those places here though, it's best those who don't know of them, never find out.

I try to be nice to every one as much as possible. I don't wanna be rude, but to think that others would do it onto me makes me quite frustrated.
I am quite aware of what people are capable of doing just to hurt you on the internet. I really don't wanna get in that mess.
Let's just say I sorta believe in karma. I don't want bad things to happen to me because of how I treat others and all. That's why I really despise people who do so.
And to those who do so, I just can't say much about them. They're probably lacking something in real life that they could just shove their anger on someone else. I really find them, annoying.

I say these people are stupid for picking on you because they didn't know you spelled poorly or made a mistake. If they were the smart ones, they'd know not to pick on you for that. Don't let it get to ya buddy, there are a lot of poor fools online, and if this was in REAL life, I bet you'd treat them a whole lot differently I mean, having power on the internet and being a powerful cyber bully doesn't mean you're like that in REAL life. I'm picky and OCD. Along with mean. Yes, I can be really cruel to people sometimes. If they want to be treated like a decent, intelligent person, act like it. I'm sorry, I just have a hard time taking anyone seriously who doesn't use a punctuation. That's just how I am. I'm a closet grammar-Nazi for goodness' sake! I treat people how they act, and acting like a silly ten year-old is immature.

well here is the thing i try to use punctuation but i never got it in school so i never use it so i try to spell the best i can, i know that n00b is just new to stuff on the internet but now and days when people use the word"n00b" they use it in a way that means like stupid new person or you know in a hurtful way and it annoys the hell out of me like some one will just use that term and then say "im just using to because he is new to the site or internet" that is what bugs me the most i mean wow come one have any commonsense

I think people should be treated nicely until they do something that takes their right to be treated that way away. But seeing as a lot of people start acting like they're God's gift online means that they're most likely not going to be received well. And yes, it is annoying.

As for n00bs, we were all one once (maybe still are ><) so being new and not understanding straight away isn't offending to me.

if anyone ever picks on me for mispelling something, i generally reply using that thing where u mess up every letter in the word, petrty mcuh lkie tihs.

then if they complain at me again and correct my spelling, i make fun of them because they can still read it, then everyone else does too
