Anime: Source of horrible relationship advice

I suppose this is more in regards to guys. For the females, hurling yourself at a guy probably is a fairly effective way of getting his attention.

Western media might not be exactly be best source either. (Though a well placed "as you wish" can be quite effective )

However it seems like anime is extra bad. First of all in virtually all Seinen and Shōnen anime I can think of the female(s) basically hurls herself at the guy. Usually with zero effort on his part. Even in the more romance based ones without aliens or such.

However I don't know that the ones targeted to females are much better. I kept hearing about Vampire Knight, so I watched a couple episodes and read about the rest.

It seems the vamps make the ladies swoon. But all they seem to do is be emos and generally ignore the female(s). Possibly throwing a bit of being mean/violent on top in Zeros case. It probably helps if you're actually a vampire, but the few guys I know who went down that path only met sorrow until they stopped.

Anyway I occasionally hear snippets that Japan has some serious issues with marriage and birth rates plumeting. I wonder if this could be somewhat to blame?

Harem animes definately fall into this category. Having relationships with several girls who like you. Never to pick one yet leading all of them on, and when they finally pick one they all seem to be happy about it. I don't think this is true for most girls.

Can't speak for Japan, but this could be why most otaku don't have girlfriends. Either this, or it's the long hours spent alone watching anime.

ANYONE older than 10 who has ever looked for relationship advices in cartoons needs to see a shrink, or, if he's already seeing one, seriously consider trying someone else
